Living our dream,

 traveling the world!

Asuncion, Paraguay #7

     May 15,

Up and about, having our Javas and breakfast of Granola, yogurt, and splitting a pear. Then I started Paraguay’s Independence Day blog. That was a big day and the blog took quite a long time. Jeff did two loads of laundry, while I was doing it! I wanted to add so much more but it was involved enough!! That was all of our morning into early afternoon.

Around 1330, we went out. We went to one of the malls to find lunch. The food court was busy again, and did not meet our cravings. We almost had a hamburger, but went to the other mall instead. We chose Ja-vira, which translated from Guarani means “Let’s drink”, especially in reference to terere or mate, the traditional South American herbal drink. We still have not had this and don’t feel the need to have it. Anyway, we ordered fish dishes: Sopa de Surubi, which is a Soup of Catfish-type fish in coconut milk; and Pacu al Horno, which is Baked-breaded Pacu topped with a sweet tomato sauce, queso and herbs. The last meal also had a heaping spoon of coleslaw and some bean salad. They were both mediocre meals…sometimes it is filler, unfortunately. They did redeem themselves with some great ‘salsas’. The price was hefty for a food court, despite the quality of food. We paid 170,000 PYG, or $27.84.

After we finished we walked about the mall some. Jeff bought me a happy, fresh-cut Sunflower, which was 30,000 PYG or $4.91! Then we went to the grocery store in this mall and left. We walked home, spending the evening in.

     May 16,

We awoke, neither slept the best, nothing specific to blame. The weather is finally warming and is supposed to reach 77°. We readied and had our Javas with French toast.🤤 We did another load of clothes- our sheets. This place has another set of them, which is not always the case. We also cleaned our CPAPs. This is involved, using half vinegar, half water soak. We never have a big enough pot to do it all, so it takes three 20 minute shifts. Like I said…it’s involved, but it’s good to clean them and necessary!

Around noon we walked to the mall for steps. The weather was lovely and we did not need our jackets! NICE. We walked about and noted the food court was the emptiest we had ever seen it…but it’s Saturday!?! Too bad we weren’t interested in eating there today, we would have been served right off. It may be more empty since we were here earlier than our normal one-two. Who knows.🤷🏻‍♀️ Anyway, we walked some more. One of the shops had some Paraguayan ‘Spider Web’ Lace. We had just watched a video on Paraguay and saw it. That’s cool and it’s so colorful, beautiful. Anyway, we stopped at the grocery store and returned back home.

We decided we did not walk enough, so we went down one floor to try out the gym. It has treadmills and stationary bikes and free weights. We both did a treadmill workout…been too long for some cardio! Whew! I was not glowing, but full on sweating!! Finished, we went back and had lunch. We made a salami stir-fry, bread with EVOO, and had it with a Portuguese White wine. Afternoon turned to evening…we finished the sheets and had a snack of popcorn to round out the day.
