Living our dream,

 traveling the world!

Asuncion, Paraguay #3

     May 9,

We were up and about by 0730. It was cool in our place as the outside temperature has remained crisp cool since two days into yesterday’s thunderstorm and rain activity. We got about and had our Javas and breakfast of French toast with that really good bread. It turned out very lovely topped with a berry jam. Then we spent the morning under some heat after Jeff figured out the heater on the mini split air-con.

Morning became early afternoon and we went out for food. Unfortunately, there’s not much in the way of restaurants around us, which is surprising considering the number of high rise condo apartment buildings in our area. The condos pepper our view and there are also at least two cranes in our immediate vicinity building more! Anyway, we went to the mall and to “Restaurant Ese Lugar!” which translated as “Restaurant That Place!” in the food court. Well that’s an interesting name…moving on, the place charges by the kilogram of food which we experienced on our bus trip getting here. I mostly got salad type dishes and Jeff got some roasted pineapple, broccoli-cauliflower, some “corn bread thing” – called Chipa Guasu (that is what I was recommended to get – also on the bus ride) and just over a pound of Brisket. It was all so good. The Chipa Guasu was not as good as that first one we’d had, but the meat was great. We paid 127,075 PYG or $20.86.

When we finished we walked around the mall, and went to another mall. Here we found a home store and bought a real wine cork opener. Our place doesn’t have one! Jeff has been using his pocket knife opener, but he can’t get the leverage and strains, not helping his back! We went to Supermercados and bought a few things. We left, as they did not have some things, Jeff went into another close by Supermercados and found a couple of other things. I stayed out with our other groceries. Most places don’t want you coming in with other groceries. (lol emoji) When he came out I had been eyeing some ice cream and we shared a small two scoop bowl of strawberry and chocolate almond/walnut. That cost us 18,000 PYG or $2.95. It was super good.

Now we went back to our place. We went back to our place, did a load of laundry, and relaxed. Around 1800, we back out and bought more of the fabulous sourdough bread. We had some bread for dinner and a Chilean Malbec. Bed around 2100.

     May 10,

Happy Mother’s Day – to all that it applies!

We both slept quite a bit last night! That is a blessing!! Anyway, it is still pretty cool in the morning, we did not have our AC on last night and even had the heater on in the front room, at a low setting to help dry the clothes overnight. We got around and had our Javas. Today is connection day and first up is my mother. We did our video call. She spent yesterday being treated by her other daughter (my sister) and her family. Her husband’s cataract surgery went well and they are well.

When we finished we made our breakfast of corned beef with onion and garlic topped with a poached egg. So good!! Then we watched some YouTube videos. Around noon we joined up on Zoom with our church back home. Then we went to the mall to get some steps and some wine. When we finished we went back to our place and made a veggie, sausage stir fry with a mustard based sauce. It turned out very nice and uniquely good! We had it with a Portuguese White wine. Very “loverly”! Then afternoon gave way to evening. Both of our sisters were busy, so we’ll hook-up later.
