Asuncion, Paraguay #13

May 27,
We got up and about having our Javas (I used the last of my coffee, and it was only a cup and a half). We had a breakfast of Granola, yogurt. Then we readied and went out in search of more coffee for me. Jeff had found a coffee roaster called Deux Coffee Roasters. He plugged in the coordinates and away we went. It was a 2.6 km (1.6 miles) walking distance.
Arriving by 1100, we went in. They had Brazilian and Ethiopian coffee beans. But the Brazilian one had an interesting flavor that I wanted to try – cherry and berries. So I ordered a cup of Americano that cost 22,000 PYG/$3.63. As I drank the coffee, I noted a sign that translated to, “You are what I need in the mornings”. True that!! Anyway, Google shows that Paraguay does have its own coffee, but it is a small local market only. We had them grind me a bag and paid 100,000 PYG/$16.49. After we left we walked to a Chinese Market, called Shopping Asia, which was 3.1 km/1.9 miles. Here we were trying to find a luggage tag, Jeff a new wallet, and me new barrettes. We found my barrettes, but struck out on the other two. This place was huge, having eight stories, only one big room on each floor, but still. We paid 4,000 PYG/$0.66 for my barrettes, then E-hailed an Uber for one of the “near to our place” grocery stores.
After shopping, we went back to our place and made a Greek salad for lunch. By 1515 we went back out to go see a Star Wars movie: The Mandalorian and Grogu. It was fantastic! I love little Grogu!! It had 24 minutes of previews… including a narrated Spanish spoken clip which was scenes from the movie we were there to watch! Anyway the film finished right around 2 hours later. It was dark and we walked back. I went directly to our place and Jeff went to Colossus Pizza. He brought back BBB pizza – which was New York style – having Bacon, Blue cheese, and BBQ. It was a great end to a great day!
May 28,
Happy Birthday, mom!!!!!
I did not really awake until 0930! I had a rough night and did not manage to get to sleep until around 0200. Jeff needed a session of the TENS unit as he has most mornings. We did not have brunch until 1100, which was skillet toast turned into sandwiches of PB and J. I skipped coffee and went straight to some Coca Cola! After we ate we filled out a form for me to get a new passport book…I only have 2 pages on one side of each page left in my current book.
Around 1500, we went out for errands and to get steps. First errand, I needed the form printed out. Jeff had looked up and there was a place in the very mall we frequent the most. This cost us 10,000 PYG/$1.65. Next a new passport picture. We had to go to the mall where we went for the movie yesterday. We arrived and she took my picture. It cost us 63,000 PYG/$10.39. Yeah that was all completed and we will send it off in Peru. Then we did some stepping and went to the grocery store.
After we finished, we went back to the first mall, getting more steps in, and this mall has the Ese Lugar in the food court, so Jeff went to get some brisket and I went back to our place. We had the brisket, bread, and some Greek salad. Then I blogged and Jeff read. I went to bed by 2100, exhausted.
