September 10,
When we were up and about, I noticed it had rained sometime last night and was slated to rain through the day. So it would be a stay in day…mind you, not that we had plans or would be able to do much anyway! But it was like a double whammy- forced to not do anything. By the way, I am not a rainy weather girl! We set about having our Javas and breakfast of oatmeal and the fixin’s. Then we watched some YouTube videos. When we were ready for lunch Jeff went out for some water and odds and ends. I deboned the rest of the rotisserie chicken from yesterday. Of course I sampled a bit. I don’t know if one can work with cooked meat without sampling it! Jeff returned and we made chicken/veggie pasta for a late lunch with some wine. It still hadn’t rained, oh well. We watched more YouTube videos as evening progressed and we had some popcorn.
September 11,
WE REMEMBER!!!
When we awoke it was raining it had started last night. The predicted rain finally came. 😢 We had our Javas and breakfast of bacon and an egg with toast – that was so good! It helped with a better feeling for the day. Then we started watching some YouTube videos… It was the 25th anniversary of 9-11. Oh my! It is something to go back and see some of the footage, surreal, but it was very real! We remember where and what we were doing. We were on an airplane, but it was from Nairobi, Kenya to Amsterdam, Netherlands. Then we were then stranded in Mechelen, Belgium for 5 days. We were supposed to fly back to the U.S. on the 12th. We were stuck rewatching all the footage on CNN as it was raining then too. So it was fitting that it was raining now. We watched one lady as she recounted the day…she obviously survived. It was a very poignant, touching narration. We stopped watching about 9-11 after that, but it did not stop raining. We made lunch of lemon chicken and roasted potatoes, red pepper, and onion. As we were cooking, the striker for the burners on the stove quit working. It is a gas stove. So we texted our host and someone brought our matches. The dreary afternoon gave way to a glum evening. We had snack stuff and then called it a day!
