Living our dream,

 traveling the world!

Arequipa, Peru #21

     July 8,

We were up & about. We decided on a breakfast of Muesli and yogurt with our Javas. Unfortunately, there was a bunch of dust in the air, so we just hung out for the morning. This seems to usually be when it is worse.

We made pepperoni pizza/bread for lunch. As we were eating, I noticed I had an update on my passport…had left the DHL in Lima, Peru…one more step closer!!!

Around 1530, we went out for steps, and decided to check at the DHL office. We wanted to see if the personnel knew of a time frame for delivery. She said it might be here tomorrow after noon! 🤞🏻🤞🏻 Wonder of wonders & miracle of miracles!!! We continued on and went to a new grocery store, but it was more bulk stuff. So we left, going to the mall and its grocery store. We acquired our items and went back to our place. A different guy, not Marcos, was at the gate so we actually had to use our key! Marcos does get a time off…I was beginning to wonder.

We had popcorn for supper and settled in for the night.

     July 9,

We were up and about by 0730. We readied and set about having our breakfast of an apple and a jam-filled croissant we bought yesterday. I checked my E-mail and at 0745, a “shipment arrived at DHL delivery station in Arequipa”. Yippee!!

We were watching some YouTube and I noticed that at 1050, the DHL tracking updated and showed my passport was “awaiting collection by the recipient!” By 1100 we were out the door, I did skip a bit going out of our complex! We walked briskly to the DHL; arrived; and asked for my package. The lady asked for my passport for ID…HAHA! So ironic!!! I pulled out my driver’s license as Jeff pulled out a copy of my old passport. Anyway, she went and got the package. It had my new and my old passports in it.
Yippee-skippy!!! I got my passport! I got my passport!!!
I imagined that everyone must have felt my relief and sheer joy! I wanted to hug the lady, but refrained myself!🤣😂 Jeff was trying to book our flight right there as I was opening the package. But he met a hiccup so we went back to our place, I almost skipped back. Once here, he got on the laptop and did his thing, as I texted everyone to update my passport’s new status. Jeff was able to book our flights!! We were both so relieved and now exhausted as that stress left us.

We went out for lunch at the local place near us, Amaranta. The place was busy, we had to sit at a table for four. I had an avocado salad and beef stew with rice. Jeff had the minestrone soup and fried chicken with sides of a little salad, rice and fries. We offered our extra two chairs and two ladies took us up, sitting with us. We couldn’t really communicate, but it was fun. Our meals came – just as good as. The set meal cost us 28 (30 with the tip) PEN, or $8.82 total. We went back to our place and both had a siesta. Then I blogged and Jeff read.

Around 1600, we went back out to finish our steps and get a celebratory dessert. And of course, a bottle of vino. We came back and had our stuff, which included our wine with a PB brownie and big double chocolate cookie. What a blessed day!
