Arequipa, Peru #16

June 29,
I awoke hopeful, but still no word on my passport! Phooey!! We got about, having our Javas and breakfast of sausage, fried egg, and bread. We both had a bit of digestive issues- Jeff more than I. This started after breakfast, so we decided on an “in” day. I blogged. Jeff finished the editing progress, read, and rested.
When he felt a bit better he went across the street and got some potatoes. We boiled them, and added some aji amillaro sauce on them. That sauce is so good – and we know how to make it. This was lunch. Then we continued to stay in for Jeff to continue recouping – he seems to be having gall bladder symptoms – I’m not diagnosing! I sewed a bit on Jeff’s pants – he needed a zipper replaced. I hate zippers and doing it by hand is a labor of love…just saying.
For supper we just had popcorn. There’s not much else to the day.
June 30,
I slept in until almost 0800, and felt refreshed…that was so nice. We got around, readied and had our Javas with breakfast of Muesli, yogurt and an apple. Tomorrow we will be leaving here and going to the new AirBNB. And I still have not received info on my passport, so staying at least an extra two weeks was a great idea.
We went for a walkabout by 1030. It was one of the earliest times we went out, so less traffic and different shade/sun patterns. Of course, we ended up at the mall and the grocery store, after we got some steps in. We then went back to our place and made a salami cheese “pizza.” It turned out pretty dang good! As we ate we watched some of the World Cup soccer- then some highlights. We have enjoyed watching some of the televised/YouTube coverage of the games. We don’t appreciate the fall down – “I’m so hurt because of the opponent…” Whatever! It has been good to watch as we are both on the competitiveness side of sports.
We went for a second walkabout to finish getting our steps. Once we returned, we went to the roof for sunset, but it didn’t pan out. For supper, we had a Greek-type salad with a Peruvian blend wine (Malbec, Cab Sav, & Merlot). We watched some YouTube videos. Then I blogged and Jeff edited. It has been a couple of days.
