Living our dream,

 traveling the world!

Florianopolis, Brazil #37

     September 8,

Up and about after a rough night for me! I was awake from 0200 until at least 0430…why, I don’t know. Anyway, we got around and Jeff started a load of laundry. We had our Javas and breakfast of an egg on bread, yogurt, and an apple. We caught up on some YouTube. We did not have any real plans today as it was forecast to possibly rain and just wanted to rest my knee after yesterday…it did well, but no reason to push it. We set out the laundry on the balcony as the rain did not seem imminent.

Around 1230, we went out. First we went to the grocery store. The next few days are supposed to be rainy so we bought some stuff to make at our place in case. Then we set out for some rotisserie chicken. Google failed us, not once but twice, as both places were not open yet! The third place was the charm, though!! It was open and very busy. Jeff dropped me off because there was not any close by parking. I used Google translate for a “whole rotisserie chicken to go” and was directed to the counter. The second lady directed me to the cashier. The cashier rang me up (60 BRL, or $11.75) and then grabbed a prebagged order already ready to go!! I had it in hand and was walking out when Jeff found me. We went back to the car to our place. That chicken was fantastic! It had been quite some time since we’d had any. The chicken was huge, but we managed to eat almost half of it! There was also an order of something…maybe it was a deep-fried polenta/cassava soft bread thing, obviously I don’t know. 😂 It was okay with mustard, but the chicken was the show.

After we finished we went out for a small stroll on the beach, as it never did rain. The beach seemed to end but we saw someone go through a path amongst the rocks. The way opened to another beach area, then the same thing – built up rocks to a very small beach area. This repeated once more to a bit larger beach, and some people were here. We walked to the end of this beach – still not very far – and then returned back to our place. The dogs met us and we had a pet therapy session! Later the sunset was pretty good. We made grilled cheese sandwiches for supper.

Around and about by 0800, as I did not sleep the greatest again! We had our Javas and a light breakfast of a mango, a banana (me only, as Jeff didn’t want any), and yogurt. Then I started blogging, as I had fallen behind – again! Jeff read.

At 1300, we went out for lunch. Jeff had found a buffet-type place for lunch, called Nice Restaurant. We arrived and it was right next to Nice Savor! Not kidding!! They actually shared an entry area!!! Both waiters were talking to us at the same time. I said “Only English” and the one at Nice went into his English spiel, without missing a beat. He did explain about the other place as we could look in both places and decide. We went into the Nice Rest. and stayed. We each picked and chose our plate of food. Then we weighed them and received a programmed card with the amount on it. When we sat we were asked about a drink. Jeff had a water. I went with a strawberry juice, but they did not have this so I changed to a watermelon one. We were both pleased with our meals, and did not overdo our portions. The bill was 107.15 BRL or $21. Then we stopped at a different grocery store, just because we had not been there.

We went back and settled in, as the clouds had built up and the air smelled of rain. We listened to some music. I blogged more, and Jeff read as afternoon gave way to evening. For supper we had cheese, bread dipped in EVOO…more simple living, someplace else.
