Living our dream,

 traveling the world!

Chiang Mai, Thailand #5

     May 15,

Awoke and feel much better – Antibiotics are doing their magic.👍🏻 Yay! We got up and about and had our Javas and oatmeal. Sometimes oatmeal hits the spot! We watched some YouTube as morning gave way to lunch time.

We hopped on our scooter, as we were going along it would spit rain on us as the sun was shining. This made us start to return but it stopped raining so we went on, passing by Wat Phuak Hong in old town. It was picturesque, but not open. We decided to get to our lunch place. It was a recommended local restaurant from a YouTube Vlogger, called Roast Chicken Wichienbury. We ordered a’ Tum Cowpod’ – Corn Salad – little spicy; Half a Grilled Chicken; one order of Sticky Rice; and one small bottled water. It was awesome! The corn salad was a little sweet from the corn, tangy from the vinegar, crunchy from peanuts, and a little spicy from the chilies. The chicken though was the star – grill-roasted skin to perfection, with lots of herb flavoring and tender without dryness. The rice helped cut the spicy heat from the salad. We really enjoyed the meal, and it cost us 175 THB, or $5.24.

We finished and just went back to our place, due to the dark clouds building up more. The plan was to just spend the rest of the day “chillaxing”. But Jeff got a message my glasses were ready… five days early! YIPPEE! It was not raining so we hopped back on our scooter and went to the mall. Jeff dropped me off, so we did not tempt fate and the rain situation. I went up to the second floor to Own Days. I handed in my receipt, they retrieved my new glasses and had just fitted them, when Jeff came in. YAY!! I love them!🤩  They gave me a new case and a new glass cleaner spray & cloth. I did a quick Google review and we left. I did ask if they recycled old glasses, but that’s “negatory”. So we left, loaded up, and scurried back to beat the rain. We made some mac and cheese for supper, calling it a day.

     May 16,

Up and about to a very wet outside. So we went up to the 15th floor fitness/workout room and got some steps on treadmills as we watched clouds rolling over Chiang Mai. It was a great view, especially with the clouds. It rained a little while we worked out. Our place has a decent work out center here and the pool that we have yet to try. Anyway we finished and went back down to our 11th floor condo. We had our Javas and breakfast of French toast.

With the weather today we stayed in. Jeff looked at the vacuum cleaner in our place. We both set about cleaning it up before we could use it to clean floors. Our place is not carpeted so we were surprised to see it instead of a simple broom. Anyway, we accomplished that and Jeff swept as I cleaned, sorted and changed the sheets. You know housework! I wanted to clean because of the mouse… droppings. We have not seen the mouse (live or dead) anymore, but the rat poisoning we had left out is all gone, so Jeff put the rest out. Now we went out across the street for lunch. We checked out a couple of shops in a little “strip-mall” area. First one was Ramen Bar; ordered one Chicken Curry Ramen Original – topped with an egg; and paid 55 THB ($1.65) to take it away. Then across at a second place – I don’t know the name – we ordered ten satay pork meat sticks that came with a peanut sauce, cucumber, onion, pepper, and rice vinegar, and paid 70 THB ($2.09) to take it away also. I waited for the food as Jeff went and refilled our six liter water. I was just getting the second order when Jeff returned, so we went back to our place. We sorted it all out, having Chicken Curry Ramen soup with the over medium egg; the Pork Skewered Satay & Peanut sauce; a little salad; and some bread. YUM!

Afternoon was Jeff doing planning as I cleaned some more. Supper was cheddar cheese and black-olive bread, and… here comes the rain again🎵🎶.
