Asuncion, Paraguay #14

May 29,
Up and about by 0800. We readied for the day, having our Javas and breakfast. We changed it up by having different breakfasts. It can happen! I had the leftover rice with olives, garlic and an egg – making fried rice. Jeff had oatmeal with honey and Nutella. As we finished up we watched a quick moving storm roll in. We first noticed it at 1100 and by 1116 the sky was enveloped by dark, angry clouds. This was when the rain started. We knew it was coming, but we were not expecting that dramatic 180° change! It even became considerably darker, feeling like dusk!! For as bad as it looked we only had a few streaks of lightning followed by light, muted thunder.
So it was an indoor stay at home day. We hung out, watching YouTube videos and Jeff started some planning stuff. We had a Greek salad, and rolls for lunch. The storm finally puttered out around 1600, so we went to the mall to get some steps and get out of the house. We got some Chinese food at Shangra-la in the Food Court. We got some beef stir-fried rice, a couple of steamed dumplings, and some orange beef slices. It cost us 28.000 PYG, $4.65.
After we finished supper we went up to the roof and saw another gorgeous sunset. Then we watched two movies with popcorn. Just simple living someplace else.
May 30,
I woke up at 0300, and could not go back to sleep! Around 0430 I went into the living room so as not to bother Jeff. Finally I slept for 30 minutes around 0800! Ucky!! So we did not get around until 0900. I felt yucky, not sickly, just blah from lack of sleep. We did not even have breakfast. We were watching some YouTube videos and Jeff learned something that he had not researched in quite awhile about hotels and points programs. We went out to the mall to discuss it, get some steps, and figure out something for lunch. It was pretty cool outside. We found a nice, ready-made salad at the grocery store.
We went back home and had air-fried potatoes. The potatoes still surprise me…how well they do. Jeff started exploring the hotel point concept in more depth. Around 1600 I laid down for a 15 minute power nap. Then we split the salad and a sandwich for supper. It was a mostly cloudy day so no sunset. I typed up this blog. For me it ended up being a ho-hum day! Wishing for a good night’s sleep!!
