Buenos Aires, Argentina #22
March 3,
We both feel better, but I slept better than Jeff. I think I’m 60% better. Jeff still has his cough, but it is more intermittent and less violent. He was up and about around 0630 and got to see a sunrise! We had our Javas and breakfast of Muesli, yogurt and fruit out on our balcony. By this time the sky had become very cloudy…this was Jeff’s fault because yesterday he commented how sunny it had been.😂 It started raining just before ten and spit and sputtered much of the morning. We did a deep cleaning of our CPAPS.
By early afternoon it had cleared up enough that we went out – we had to get food! We went to three different stores: one local fruit/veggie place; two grocery stores; and a pharmacy. I have been able to get my prescription medicine without any scripts, as like most places in the world except the USA.
Anyway, when we arrived back to our place we put two potatoes in the oven, then prepped a Greek-type salad with bread and ate this while waiting for the potatoes. We don’t have a microwave, and prefer baked potatoes as opposed to “nuked” ones. It was worth the wait, sometimes you just need a baked potato! When we finished we just enjoyed the evening on the balcony, until dark. Then we had some popcorn and watched YouTube indoors. Bed by 2200.

Today I feel 80% better! Yay! Jeff says he feels better as well, finally! This morning we had our Javas on the balcony to a nice, sunny morning! Then I trimmed the back of Jeff’s hair. It has been three months since his last “scalping,” and finally just needs a touch up! Then we had scrambled eggs with blue cheese, avocado side and toast. Also did another load of laundry.
We had to wait around much of the morning at our place, due to a technician coming from 1030 to 1300. The internet router is not working, so the Airbnb host had set up the time for today. Well, by 1300, no one had showed up, so we had lunch – leftover Greek salad and bread. We finished and still had not heard anything, so Jeff texted our host, and we found out the technician had cancelled. It would have been nice to have been kept in the loop of that information. Anyway, the host said it would have to be rescheduled. Okay…HUMMM?! So now it was 1500 and the hottest part of the day. Notch it up to a loss! So I blogged and Jeff did some planning.
Around 1730, we went out- just to get out – and to find something for supper. The place we had in mind was closed, and we don’t necessarily want the close by empanadas. So we walked, some of the architecture around here is pretty cool – seen better days – but nice. Then Jeff thought of the Ecuadorian place but it was closed too. We saw a place called Panaderia y Rotiseria Tia Luisa. It had many different kinds of “tortas”- like a pot pie or quiche. It advertised “Comidas Caseras,” which translated as ‘homemade meals.’ Yes, please!! We bought a piece of a Jamon, Queso, y Puerro (Ham, Cheese, and Leeks) Torta. The server offered to heat it. We paid 4,500 ARS or $3.21. We went back to our place and had the torta with the last of the Greek salad, some Blue cheese, bread and a Malbec wine – of course on the balcony! The evening was a glorious temperature. We are… simply living, someplace else!
