Living our dream,

 traveling the world!

Wanagiri, Bali #16

     September 27,

We were up and about by 0700. We got around and had both had hot chocolate on our balcony. The mornings are pretty cool here, around the upper fifties. Once the sun comes out, it warms to the upper seventies/lower eighties. Pretty nice!! The skies were dappled with a few clouds, but looked good enough to go out and about. It had rained some time recently as the ground was wet. Back behind our place is a field of hydrangeas. We had noticed this on a roof view from our place the day we had arrived, I finally looked up their significance, as there are many fields of them here. It has to do with being a flower for Balinese Hindu rituals. Interesting and beautiful… Jeff’s parents loved hydrangeas.

Anyway after we finished our drinks, we then went down to breakfast. We chose Nasi Goreng- a stir fry of veggie and rice with a fried egg; a pineapple pancake; and a fruit plate. Jeff had hot tea. All I could think about while eating some of the Nasi Goreng was how much better it would be with a poached egg. We finished and loaded up in our car.

First on the agenda we went to find me some more Balinese coffee for me. The first place, well, it was not there. Thankfully, Jeff – my provider – had a second place lined up! As we drove there it seemed to be a place to spend all day… like the South Africa Wineries! There was a horse riding arena, which people were using. Anyway, we were at Munduk Coffee. We found the parking and under direction, we found the coffee tasting room. I tried some and WINNER! I bought a bag, as they were able to grind for me!👏🏻

Now we went to Melanting Waterfall. The drive here was through the very coffee plantations of the coffee I just had bought! Upon arriving, we parked and commenced the downward path – a bunch of steps that were steep at first. We came to the ticket booth. It was 20,000 IDR each, or $1.20 each. Now the steps were more normal, but still a bunch. I was thinking this will be a workout going back out! Finally, we arrived and the steps were forgotten. It was a grand, multi level waterfall. We had to ourselves for a bit! It was nice… so peaceful!

Back to our car we did the return upward climb of those steps! At the halfway point – the ticket booth – I did ask the attendant how many steps there were. He said he thought around 700!!!

Anyway, we arrived back at our car and loaded up. On the way back to the car, we noticed a lot of cloud build up! So we called it on any more waterfall visits, and drove back to our place. When we arrived back at our hotel, it started raining. One of the staff asked where we had been – he had asked us yesterday as well, and gave us pointers. So friendly.

As soon as we got settled in our room, it was still raining. So we had a few peanuts for a snack and then I blogged and Jeff read. The rain continued until late afternoon, but it was mostly light. We decided for supper to order in room service. We had a Chicken Salad; Soto Ayam, which is like a chicken noodle soup- Indonesian style; and Chicken Cordon Bleu. We also had a bottle of Hatten Aga Red, which is the local Bali wine. It was a lovely end to a good day!
