Vina del Mar, Chile #21
January 10,
We were up and ready for the day by 0800. We made our Javas and breakfast of oatmeal with the last of the trail mix. We found Jeff’s vaccination papers last night. Jeff decided to look one more time and discovered it was stuck in my papers. How we missed I have no clue… but thankfully we found it!
Around noon we set out doing a walkabout and to get lunch. We walked around to the ocean front area and found a rotisserie chicken place, Tierra del Pollo. We ordered a ½ rotisserie chicken with “papas fritas”- fries. With our takeaway order we were given 5 “salsas”- sauces and ketchup. We paid 12,900 CLP, or $14.45. Food prices in Chile are generally, just higher than SE Asia, but not as much as back home. Anyway we arrived back at our place and enjoyed our still warm-hot food.
Then we watched more of the seemingly endless Star Wars sagas. Supper was a snack of hummus and crackers while watching the short sagas. Simply living, just somewhere else.
January 11,
Awake by 0700, but not up and about until 0730. I catnapped. We readied and settled in having our Javas and breakfast of Granola and yogurt. Today is our connection day.
We did the video call with my mother and her husband – they are well. Once finished, we did a small bit of hand wash items and hung them to dry. Then around noon we had the last package of chicken noodle soup- doctored up with onions, garlic, & herbs; with bread and butter. Then we zoomed with our church family back home and watched the service.
Then we set out for a small walk to a grocery store, getting some steps in. As we were walking, we noticed a rose bush we pass frequently. It had a beautiful blooming rose… because it is summer here. We arrived at the store, acquired and purchased our goods, then walked back to our place. The weather is cool and crisp today, but nice for walking in. At our place I took a picture of a passion flower blooming as well as some flowers – hydrangeas, more roses, etc. – blooming in our host’s garden. So lovely! Anyway, I started blogging and Jeff had a small siesta. Supper was a hamburger veggie stir-fry over rice. We still did not get the rice right as the gas burner just doesn’t have a low, but it turned out fine.
Next we had a video talk with my sister – her clan are all well. Then we did a video call with Jeff’s sister – her clan are all well also. It is still great to be able to connect with everyone. Then our day was completed.
