Living our dream,

 traveling the world!

Vina del Mar, Chile #20

      January 8,

We were up and about to another overcast day. We readied and sat to enjoy our Javas and breakfast of French toast and yogurt… just as it started raining! Bummer! That was very unexpected and it continued mildly raining, off and on, until mid afternoon. Double bummer!! So we had another stay-in day, but it was not due to our health! I am thankful for that!!

So, we delved into the Star Wars world of movies/animation/TV series. There’s a bunch of filler before, in between and after the nine movies that I knew about! It is a daunting list. We have set out to watch them… but I’m not sure we will watch the whole definitive list. Some are really bad animations! Anyway, that was how we spent much of our day since it was a rainy day outside. Lunch was a Garbanzo (chickpea) soup with bread; and supper was a baked potato and roasted onion, red pepper, and broccoli (Jeff also had a bratwurst type sausage.) Bed around 2300.

     January 9,

The weather was beautimous! We readied, having our Javas and breakfast of a fried egg sandwich. We don’t have a regular toaster. The place has supplied a thin metal plate with a grate that sits on the burner of the gas stove. It works as far as toasting bread, but is not cleanable. This would make it a one renter use item – disposable – and seemingly more expensive than buying a toaster, I would think. Anyway, we finished breakfast and I did the blog from the seventh.

We then went out for a walkabout around noonish. We decided to go get our last Hepatitis B shots. Jeff had found a couple of other places online that are supposed to give them. We walked to the first place. Using our Google translate Jeff asked and the receptionist shook her head no. But she was able to give us a place where we could get it, and she wrote it on paper so we could find it. YEAH! We set off there. We walked in and asked with the Google translate here. The trio of young ladies nodded yes! They have it but not the same brand name – it’s a generic version. That was fine. We pulled out our vaccine info, to discover Jeff’s sheet was not in with mine! WHAT!?! Hopefully it is back at our place. I went ahead and got mine. It cost 17,000 CLP or $19.01.

Anyway, that accomplished for me at least, we went walking in search of lunch. Nothing was really hitting the mark as we walked so we went to a mall. We have found their malls here are different. This particular one spanned at least three buildings and had elevated walkways connecting the buildings. We found a food court in the third building. We decided on a place called Domino. The restaurant is known for its hotdogs, hamburgers, and sandwiches; and was busy! Right after we sat down at the next to last table, a line developed for sitting! It’s a Chilean, family-owned company since 1952, originally starting as a soda fountain shop. The name, Domino, came from the traditional domino game. The family used to meet and play the game every weekend, according to their website. We both had a hamburger as we are not hotdog people. I had the BLT and Jeff had the Rodeo Spicy. Both had bacon and double smash burgers… salad will be dinner. We also shared an order of onion rings and each had a juice – a raspberry and a pineapple. The whole meal was awesome and hit the spot! It cost us 38,995 CLP or $43.61. That was a pricey meal! We finished and went into a Decathlon store in the mall, but did see anything we needed.

We walked back and realized we ended up doing 14,500 steps! We needed this after those burgers! Back at our place we relaxed. We made a Greek salad for dinner. We looked for Jeff’s immunization record but could not find it. We will figure something out! 🤞🏻
