Living our dream,

 traveling the world!

Vina del Mar, Chile #15

     December 30,

I slept in again. We got around and readied. Then set about having our Javas and breakfast of good old oatmeal, yogurt, and banana. Oatmeal is hitting our spots better because it is hot and mornings seem to be chilly… in Chile. Ha-Ha.😂

Around “oneish,” we went out walking to get some wine and pick up our laundry. It was a good trek and warmed us up. When we arrived back at our “rustic cottage” and set about making lunner. We had 1½ ears of corn each and some Mediterranean Ciabatta bread with wine. The corn was not as sweet as we thought it would be, but was good. It seems the main kind of corn in Chile is this starchy corn, aka Peruvian corn or “choclo.” Anyway, the bread and wine were excellent.

We then had a laid back evening and watched The Incredibles. We are watching Pixar-made movies in order of release dates. Jeff had signed up for a Disney Plus trail run because of our wanting to see the first Avatar movies before seeing the third one in the theater in Santiago. Anyway, an interesting thing we have noticed watching these movies. All the scenes that have written packaging or images of writing are in Spanish… For example, Mr. Incredible is reading a newspaper in Spanish; or Elastigirl is flying a plane with the controls all written in Spanish. It’s just weird!! It makes me wonder if we were in Thailand would that written stuff be in Thai?? Questions.

     December 31,

Last night after eating my throat started getting sore, and stayed sore all night, continuing when I awoke. That explained all my sleeping… I’m sick!! Oh man! I don’t think I got out of bed until 0930, and I was so achy – listless. We had our Javas and oatmeal with fresh blueberries. Then I took some Ibuprofen and went back to bed, sleeping some more.

Jeff went out and purchased some Halls cough drops. Practically everywhere we have been is this world has the “Halls of medicine!” They are in the “candy isles” at the cash register. Anyway, he read and watched some YouTube. He had a PB&J for lunch. I had yogurt then went back to bed, but mostly to just get warm, I did not sleep much.

Supper was a veggie marinara pasta. We watched Ratatouille. Then I went to bed but Jeff stayed up, going out to see ‘South America’s Largest Fireworks Display’ at midnight. I wanted to go but it just was not worth it. Jeff came back early! He said it was not good because of low cloud cover and no wind. We had experienced this once before in Naples, Florida in the USA. The smoke from the previous firework obscured every explosion of light, until it was just colored smoke toward the end. He said there wasn’t any OHH’s or AHH’s going on. But he said it was “wall-to-wall,” so to speak, of people- everywhere, even in the roads.
