Living our dream,

 traveling the world!

Vina del Mar, Chile #13

     December 26,

I didn’t sleep well.🙁  I could not get to sleep until around 0300 AM!!!🤯  When I did decide to get up, I was loggy. My FitBit read I only had four hours and 46 minutes of sleep. Like I started with – I didn’t sleep well. We had our Javas and breakfast of oatmeal, yogurt, and trail mix. After I finished, I went back to bed and napped. When I came into the living area, Jeff said, “You weren’t down very long.” HUH… But I felt refreshed and like I had been down for a while.

Anyway, the day was gonna be a “not-much-happening.” For lunch salami, tomato, onion pasta with garlic butter sauce; and a great seeded bread. Then afternoon gave way to evening, and we decided to do a Pixar movie marathon. We ended up watching Toy Story – I, II, III, and IV movie binge. Supper was popcorn, of course. Finally we crashed at 0030.

December 27,

We were both awake by eight, but I went back to sleep until almost nine. We then readied, having our Javas and breakfast of muesli, trail mix, and nectarines. It was less hot today. Christmas had been the hottest day, and the morning today was back to cool crisp.

Around 1030, we went for a walkabout and went shopping – going back to the Lider. The store was way less crowded. Anyway, we found most of our stuff using a shopping cart from the horde that was available. I still can’t believe we went there on Christmas Eve! It was a doable amount to carry so we walked back. At our place we unloaded and had lunch – salami mustard sandwiches and blue cheese.

Around 1500, we walked out to the flower clock down near the coast. Jeff had signed us up for a free guided walk. We found the assembled group and joined, all standing around until time. There were two docent tour guides. When one tour guide started speaking, it was only Spanish. Oh man! I asked the tour guide who was not speaking if it would only be in Spanish. He asked, “You don’t speak Spanish?” I shook my head, and affirmed, “No.” He said he did not know English well enough to translate for us. Bummer! So we left. We will come back and do our own tour with our phones. We headed back, stopping at a Sushi place, called Fukkatsu Nikkei for supper.

We chose two different Salmon Sushi dishes and ordered them for take away. One order of ten was Furikakke Spicy, a roll filled with salmon, cream cheese, and avocado, drizzled with sweet and spicy sauce and topped with furikake (a Japanese dry, savory seasoning) for an umami touch. The other order of ten, called Kinuwa Sake, was a salmon and avocado roll with yellow chili pepper ceviche sauce and a touch of shichimi togarashi (Japanese meaning, “shichimi pepper to sharpen”) enhance spiciness and topped with crispy quinoa. Wowza! Both orders were so good. This was our first solo venture ordering Sushi! We will definitely eat here again!!

Then we settled in and watched Bugs Life. Bed by 2230
