Ushuaia to Buenos Aires
February 27,
I awoke at 0630. My throat was very sore. So I’ve caught the cold that everyone has been passing around. Jeff still has his wicked cough! We readied and packed up the last of our stuff. Our big bags were put in the hall last night. We won’t see them again until after our flight.
At 0730, we left our room with the rest of our stuff, and went to breakfast – eating very light. We had been assigned the “brown group” for disembarkation. Once we finished we went up to the Dome to pass the time. At 0830, our group was called. We said goodbye to many we passed. Hugging Flor, set me to tearing up, then Sara did me in. We boarded the bus and received our plane boarding passes. By 0850, we were at the Ushuaia airport, and by 0915,we were through security. We boarded by 1015. The plane backed up at 1038, and took off by 1050. We were given our last Paula’s Pantry meal – a sandwich and a brownie. At 1345, we started our descent, with touch down at 1410…
Welcome to Buenos Aires!!!
By 1430, we had our bags and by 1455, we were in a Cabify taxi heading to our Airbnb. We arrived by 1530. Someone met us and took us up to the penthouse flat we had booked. We had to take one elevator up to the sixth floor and then a super small elevator – just me and the bags would fit – to go up the last floor. Anyway, he gave us an apartment tour. It’s a two level jobber. The bedroom and bathroom are downstairs. An office is over this with the foyer/hallway leading to a big open room of the kitchen, dining, and front room. Then, the reason we got this place, the huge balcony- it’s longer than the big room and just as wide. The majority of the balcony is covered. It is simply fantastic and a nice breeze makes it cool. The place has a semi-eclectic vibe, and is very open air. We like it! The man left us one set of keys. So we started unpacking, and getting settled in.
Then we set out for the close by Carrefour – that we had discovered those few hours we had in Buenos Aires two weeks ago. We got some items on the list, and checked out. On our way back we stopped at a local fruit and veggies shop and bought salad makings for our dinner tonight. Once back at our place we ate salad and drank some wine. I was very tired, as the cold passed around on the cruise, is hitting me full on. Jeff is still feeling the cold’s effects also. He had trouble getting his ears to pop on the plane. What a mess we seem to be, but we have no plans. We went to bed by 2030.
