Living our dream,

 traveling the world!

Seville, Day 3

Hydraulic Organ

     May 12th

I slept in until 0830!!! Good thing we did not have anything lined up this morning!

Anyway, we went out and did a bigger walking tour, 2 miles to our first stop. Trekked out to the the curtain walls of Seville, the barrio de le Macarena. (No we did not do the Macarena dance!)  These are from the Roman times and not a big stretch remains, but you feel the protection they would have provided. Then stopped for light lunch of tapas and cold drinks! Next stop was the Metropol Parasol, a wooden structure. It is now called, Setas de Sevilla, or “Mushrooms of Seville”. There is much public controversy surrounds this site that claims to be the largest wooden structure in the world! It is definitely different. (Might be more interesting at night – will try to head over here tonight.) Next was a couple of churches we popped into on our way to the Real Alcazars, or Royal Palace  of Seville. We had timed entry for 1pm. There is a Moorish-Muslim feel to most of the architecture. But also has mixture of  Christian influences throughout. Beautiful rooms with decorative/motif tiles and ornate arches throughout the Palace. And there are extensive gardens with many flowing fountains – one of which was a hydraulic organ. We spent 3 hours walking about and taking it all in.

Now we meandered back to our place – “our dogs were tired”.  We had trekked 15,000 steps!! We finished off our ajoblanco soup, and a sandwich for dinner. We have enjoyed Seville, and the day was a bit cooler, which helped. Will head out for sunset.
