December 2,
Upon awakening today, I realized the Karaoke had stopped before we went to bed last night. Yay🎉!! Sometimes, I've found, it is good to be grateful for these small things! Anyway, we got up and around. We had our Javas and then had Muesli with chocolate coconut milk (I did not read the container very well) but it was good. We had bought yogurt yesterday but realized we had left it in our bag over night, not the refrigerator. Ya know, like it is supposed to be.
We were able to WhatsApp video with my sister, getting all caught up. Then we WhatsApp video called Jeff's sister and her husband. All our relations seemed to have had a great Thanksgiving!! Blessed we all were!
Now it is after one o'clock, we readied and set out for some lunch, not knowing what but we were hungry for. As we walked we decided on pizza. Everywhere we have been in the world, seems to do pizza. It seems to be a human staple! As it should…Hee-Hee🤭! Jeff looked up a local place, so we went there. It was Buratino Pizza. Their logo is of Pinocchio(?). I ordered a 7 inch Potato Pizza- described as ham, onion, corn, potato, and cheese; and a 7UP. Jeff ordered an Miscellaneous Pizza- beef, ham, pepperoni, onion, olive, corn, and cheese; and a beer. Jeff's pizza was better. The potatoes on mine were french fries! Which we should have thought of as the potato part. To console myself I did pet the restaurant's cat. It was beautiful cat. We have not seen too many cats– hey, he should be out there getting those rats… just saying! We finished and paid 203,000 Dong ($8) total.
We walked heading back to the GO – we thought of couple things we did not check out. As we were going, we noticed a couple of stands making some stuffed crepes and frying some 3 inch round thick discs. We stopped at one and bought a disc thing. It cost 20 cents! It was sticky rice, but tasted like popcorn!!! That was a pleasant surprise! We don't need to get them again but it was a cool switch up!
We arrived at the GO and found a couple of the things we had forgot to look for… but of course not all. Sometimes this can be frustrating! But you try to adapt and go with it.
Anyway, we walked back to our place and had some siesta time. I caught up on my blogging and Jeff read and planned. We also WhatsApped our hostess and she brought us some T.P. – necessities. Just as we were thinking about dinner, an alarm(?) went off. We think it may have been a fire alarm testing🤔. A few people were out in the halls – as we were – looking about the atrium area trying to figure it out also. Then Jeff heard the big exhaust fans go off as he headed out for some pasta for our supper. He could not find any pasta, but did get us the ramen type noodles. So we cooked those with our pesto instead of the seasoning packs (we'll save those for something else another time). After dinner I went ahead and did todays blog, as Jeff read. Around 2030 as each night so far we had the little display of fireworks – well, like roman candles. It gives us an abbreviated memory of Phu Quoc.
Today was about: just simple living… someplace else…
