Moroccan Living 26
July 25th
We were blessed today. After breakfast of scrambled eggs and bread and our resistant band workout, we headed out to Medina to get to boardwalk. It was a bit later than our norm, but this was the blessing. Because the ramen place, Ruly's Ramen, was open!!! This place makes their own ramen! So we peeked in and they were serving. We were led up one flight of stairs, then back and up another flight of steps (after we took our shoes off for this last ascent). A little room opened up with a mostly full view of the ocean. The restaurant is right up against the wall of Medina ocean side! We have walked right below here before (at low tide)! It was neat to see different perspective. The room was just big enough for a table where four people could sit to eat. We had an opener small bowl of sliced seasoned cucumbers. Then a Moroccan salad with a oriental spin of rice vinegar maybe and a salty/'soyish' type seasoning – very refreshing. We both ordered a lemonade to drink (it's a limeade). Then the main. Jeff had Paitan Ramen, which is ramen in a thick, creamy chicken broth topped with chicken slices, sliced leeks, small amount of spinach, and a half of an egg. I had Ruly's Ramen, which is ramen in soy-sauce (you could choose soy or salt sauce). Mine had same toppings but also had “fresh fishes dried by the wind from the ocean of Essaouira” (This must be dried in tiny flakes). The meal included a big scoop of rice, which we put in our broths after the goodies were all gone. Anyway, both dishes were excellent and hit our spot for a different kind of meal altogether.
Finished now we completed that walk down the boardwalk and then cut back to go to local supermarket. We picked up some juice we stumbled on. It's Mojito juice, lime and mint flavored. It is not alcoholic, but we add a little whiskey and it makes a very nice after dinner drink (it's usually made with rum, but that is more expensive here). Now we trekked home and relaxed. Dinner will be light again, we may have that popcorn tonight since we did not last night.
Thankful for so many blessings!
