July 18th
This morning we both wanted Baghrir. These pancakes are so good, and filling! I had one the traditional way with butter and honey, but the second one I used peanut butter and raspberry jam!! (I think Jeff did the same but no peanut butter. I just don't get it – peanut butter is the bomb!) Anyway, we both also had a banana. They have a different kind of bananas here. The bananas are smaller and taste better, not as “starchy”.
After breakfast, we went for our walkabout. The wind is not blowing much so we went to the north beach. If there's no wind this is our go to beach, because it is way less busy. Hardly any tourists with minimal amount of locals, and we don't get hit upon for “Camels, Horses, or Quad? Maybe surfing, or surf-boarding?” It's nice to just be, walking peacefully, and hearing the surf. The tide was a couple of hours past low tide, about four hours to high tide. We did see a bat winged sea slug. They seem regal, somehow and I find them facinating to watch. We then went back to our place for a small cool down, but we had to detour and pick up our laundry. (We took a big load in yesterday.)
Next, time for lunch!! We wanted pizza. Jeff had looked up best pizza in Essaouira, and second listed place was right next to our Asian Red Food restaurant. It's called Pizzeria Samaresh. (The first place is only opened for supper.) We split the 'Diva'. It had tomato, mozzarella, turkey ham, mushrooms, blue cheese, grilled eggplant, an egg, and oregano! The crust was done well, similar to an open oven stone pit. Fresh tomato sauce – the whole pizza was just, very gooood!!! If we have need of a pizza again before we leave, it will definitely be here! We also caved and had a dessert, Tiramisu. I do not like this normally, but the way they make it… YUM! 🙂
Back to our place, via a long route. We have to work off lunch! Oh my!! LOL! So needed a siesta now. Anyway, supper will be light – salad. Hoping y'all have a blessed day!
