Moroccan Living 18
July 10th
Yesterday, we took day off made some BBQ beef with mac and cheese for supper. We did our church link and then… one of of our nephews married the love of his life! Yay!! Congratulations, you both looked amazing and so happy!!! It was a beautiful ceremony via ZOOM, thank you for sharing.
Today, Jeff and I had a laid back morning, as in we were laying on our backs. We were both having mild issues. I think it's from our living room Moroccan “couches”. I don't really know how the nation tolerates them!?? Some of the questions… Anyway, we went out to our “old” stomping grounds, near where we stayed the first nine days here in Essaouira. There was a restaurant in that vicinity that we kept meaning to try and never did. We meandered and went on some streets we had not been on before. Then behold, Jeff found it! He has a very great recall of places once he has been there – I do not at all, it takes me a half dozen times then maybe… We went in and ordered a half of a chicken that we could see on the rotisserie spit. It was so good!! First we were served bread and a Moroccan salad dish: small mounds of cubed, boiled potato; pickled beet; shredded carrot; diced tomato; cubed cucumber; scoop of pasta; and scoop of rice all drizzled with two sauces. Next came our frites and drinks. We watched the chickens cooking; while we salivated, and ate the first course. The huge rotisserie is rotating two wheels with four long skewer spits, containing three butterflied chickens each. It is quite a production. But the best is eating it. The chicken is so flavorful, seasoned very well with salt, dried herbs and fresh rosemary, and an awesome marinade. Also the chickens are cooked in the rotisserie with charcoal so they are smoked! We were so overwhelmed and glad to have finally remembered to come back here. Jeff has decided we will eat here once a week – I did not object!
So quite happy we went to our Carrefour bought essentials and caught taxi back to our place. Siesta and food coma time! Then watched some youtube and supper was salad with leftover mac and cheese, followed by stove cooked popcorn, which we are loving. Good day!
