Living our dream,

Moroccan Living 14

July 4th

***** HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!! *****

To all Americans reading this Happy Fourth of July!

We started our day early, walking, 0830ish. Went through the Medina. It is way early for here! Not much opened, so walking through at this time is a breeze! Our goal is the Carrefour; (which, BTW, has removed their stalls in the parking lot to buy sheep.)  it opens at 09. We want to have homemade hamburgers and fries – an American meal today. Also a few other items on the list. Finished, went out for a taxi. We waited and waited, seemed forever, but reality was only about 10 minutes. But this is the longest we have had to wait for a taxi here at the store!

Back at our place we, ate breakfast of yogurt and muesli with 1/2 grapefruit each. Then Jeff showered because he's getting a haircut today! I trimmed up my hair yesterday, but his definitely needs a cut (my longer hair is way more forgiving). Anyway, their are two barber shops (“homme”) right across the street from our apartment complex! The first shop had someone step in right before Jeff, so he went to the second. Jeff used Google translate to say “shorter all around” and the guy pointed to the chair. I took a before and after shot. He did an outstanding job with a comb and scissors, only used electric cutters for Jeff's neck and making a definitive hairline. (I have done Jeff's hair, but only with electric cutter.) It turned out nice! His first haircut! HA-HA! (Well, since we started this new life in mid-April!!)

Back at our place, decided to do our hamburgers and fries for lunch! We put fries in our gas oven, since don't have oven temperatures on the dial, we'll have to keep an eye on them. Started hamburgers, and at the first flip… they have grill marks but are still red,.. HUMM?!?    What do we do?? Decided to try in oven… but same problem. Jeff's is like, “This isn't meat!” We pulled out the label and Google translate (our lit' buddy today).  It is… ground TURKEY!!   LOL!!   So Happy Fourth of July/ Happy Thanksgiving all-in-one!!!! We ended up chopping them up and having a 'crumbly is good', pan- sauteed turkey cheeseburger. Ingenuity! It all works right!?

Anyway, will probably go out to finish getting our steps and work off lunch; plan for light supper; and, as always, hopeful for an great sunset! Wishing all a very Blessed day!!
