Living our dream,

 traveling the world!

Mendoza, Argentina #15

     February 8,

Up and about by 0730. We had our javas and breakfast of granola and yogurt. It was Sunday, that means it’s our connection day. So after our bird watching we did a WhatsApp video with my mother and her husband. It sounds like the snow has mostly melted, which means the weather has warmed back up. 👍🏻

After we finished catching up with them, we went on walkabout. We wanted to go back to El Chiquito Parrilla. It was a 5.5 km (3.4 miles) trek. When we arrived the two guys recognized us and smiled, waving at us. They had expanded to two very large charcoal grills and had other food options available… one of them gave us a sample of some pork(?) with some cheese and veggies on top. That was very nice!!! It was good but a little chewy/tough, and we already knew what we wanted.🤗😋  We ordered ½ of a grilled chicken. But we saw a large pan of stewed veggies – so we had those instead of fries. The seating area was set up on the side in the shade of a huge tree, where we had been moved to the first time we were here. As we waited for our food, we noticed that there were at least four other staff. So Sunday is a big day for them! The food arrived. The chicken was as good as we remembered, and the stewed veggies were a great flavor as well. Even though it was less food, seemingly, we couldn’t finish it all – we still had a couple of pieces of chicken left. We had them wrap it up and added another order of veggies. We went to pay, but we were just short of cash (they don’t take credit cards). Jeff had to go to the ATM to get cash. Thankfully it was not far. It cost us 41,000 ARS ($29.20). Jeff put in for a Cabify taxi and we went back to our place. A side… this driver had us put on our seatbelts – no one else has ever done this. As a matter of fact, most seatbelts are not accessible.

Anyway, back at our place, we zoomed with our church and service back home. Then we had a siesta, as my sister and Jeff’s sister were busy as it’s SuperBowl Sunday back home, which is the yearly championship of American football. We did not watch it, as our team has not been in the running since December. For supper we had the leftover chicken and veggies as a stir-fry with rice. It was simply living somewhere else kind of day.

     February 9,

We awoke and readied. We had the last bit of stir-fry with eggs on toast for breakfast with our Javas out on our balcony. After we finished, we took care of business. I blogged and Jeff checked us in on our flight to Buenos Aires. The airline we are flying is Jet Smart and allows checking in 72hrs in advance.

Around noon, we went out. We wanted nice shirts for the cruise. We had seen a couple of local shops and went to them, just a few blocks away. I found one and Jeff found a couple. These three items cost us around 50,000 ARS ($35-36). We then tried to get some Scopolamine patches, but we struck out. As we were heading back to our place, a nearby Contemporary Art Exhibition Hall was open so we went in. The building was a very old colonial type one. Entrance to get in was free. We viewed some very different art pieces here. Some of the works I enjoyed… and others not so much. But this is art, right? When we left, and stopped a few feet away at a local shop and bought two empanadas and two tartlets for lunch. We took them back to our place and heated them. They were good, but the empanadas – at the wine tasting place across the street – were better.

Supper was salad with the last bit of chicken. We have pretty much used all of our groceries now. We watched some Boba Fett (another Star Wars saga). Then we talked with Jeff’s sister, she told us of a mutual friend’s need for prayers. She wished us well on our cruise as all have done. We had updated all of our peoples that it may be awhile until we are able to get in touch with them all. On that note after Feb 13 and for two weeks after that we may not be blogging much. But we anticipate to have great stuff after that!!!!!  Yay!!  Tata for now.
