Living our dream,

 traveling the world!

Marvelous Maldives #1

     April 3

We awoke to the loudspeaker announcing call to prayer at 455 AM!! So now awake, we went ahead and got around – me still slowly. I'm puttered out. Jeff is going diving, and has to be there by 07. He left around 650. I went back to bed. Pitiful, but…

0930 I set out to get breakfast. Our breakfast is included in the price of the room, but we actually have to go to a restaurant, The Blue Moon, which probably is 100 meters (about 330 feet). I felt like I had run a marathon!! Amazing! On the way there I could really look at the water. It is just so beautiful. The blues and greens interplaying, hearing the waves roll on the beach with the calling of the Asian Koel bird. Anyway, the included breakfast is a continental one – toast and butter/jam; fried egg; and a “sausage” (it's a hotdog, call it what it is). The man was very helpful and let me get our meals as take-away. (Jeff did not eat before he left since the restaurant opens at 07.) I was able to eat most all of it, due to being hungry and empty!! Then I went back to bed.

I stirred around noon, and piddled about. Jeff returned at 2 PM. He did three dives – saying two were good, but one was very “currenty,” as in against the current – maybe the strongest current he has experienced. Between two of the dives they were able to snorkel with a Manta Ray. Also Jeff saw sharks, lots of fish on his dives, but no whale sharks. When he returned, he ate his “breakfast.” Then we both napped/relaxed. He had expended a bunch of energy, and I well…

At 530 PM, we went out for supper. We chose Monalaz Beach Cafe. I had tuna noodles with a fried egg on top and a strawberry mojito. Jeff had tuna steak with french fries, and a side salad of carrots, cabbage, and tri colored bell peppers. He had a chocolate milkshake also. While we were waiting for our food, sunset unfolded. Beautiful! The sun did not set into the ocean, but set behind clouds. It caused a great kaleidoscope of colors. Then a heron stalked the shore, searching for his dinner – or a handout, most likely. Our food arrived and we were enjoying it when Sting Rays came right up to the very shallows and lights from the restaurant. Then lastly crabs came out skittering on the little space of beach. Jeff said, “Wow! Dinner and a show.” What a blessing!

Finished, Jeff went to the dive shop to tell them he won't be going tomorrow, since I'm still not quite up to par. (Hoping🤞for one more day off to fully recover!) I want to go diving! Anyway, back at our place, we just relaxed. I blogged, as Jeff read. Plan to go to bed as soon as the lengthy calls to prayer end.
