April 20th

WOW!!! Today we did a big cruising day, 21km and 6 locks. After we left Homps and made it through the 6 locks, the terrain changed. There were more vineyards and visual horizon opened up. We were cruising with our bimini – a shade covering on the boat – up and protecting us. Warmer weather today! Quite a few boaters we met are in shorts, even some in bathing suits working on their tans. 

We stopped at Argens-Minervois and walked around, a quaint village. There's a 14th century chateau. From here we boated around a big horse-shoe bend in the canal, and on to Ventenac-en-Minervois. At this town, we did our first French wine tasting!! We pushed on to le Somail and decided to “anchor” for tonight. We went to our first Grocery Barge – it's a mini grocery store on a barge tied off on the bank! We ordered a fresh baguette and two croissants that we can pick up tomorrow morning. YUM!!! I can't wait!
