Koh Samui, Thailand #19

February 2,
We awoke or ‘came to be aware of our existence’ – how’s that for philosophical. But I have been thinking of sleep and the state of awaking lately. It is to be a definite God thing! Sleep is so much a part of our existence and then waking up?… Well, that is a blessing.
Anyway, we got up and about. We had our Javas and breakfast of Muesli, yogurt and milk. Around 0945 we loaded up on our Little Honda and went to Koh Samui International Church. We arrived and found our seats quickly because the little church was filling up. The pastor opened service in his normal fashion – having new people coming up and introducing themselves. There was a lady from Norway – a new country for the church. This Sunday had probably seventy people. The most for this church – extra chairs were brought out to seat everyone!! Then came the birthdays of the coming week… Jeff had to go up, as his birthday is the seventh! (Crazy how time flies.) Then the service began. Excellent Worship service with Imagine song by Mercy Me that I love… I got goose bumps. Praise to God! Next, was the tithes/offerings, then the pastor spoke on “Why Are You Here?” It was another good, thought-provoking sermon.🤔 Services ended with a communion and an invitation to a “Grab and Share” – what we called a potluck back home. We ate their generous meal and said our goodbyes to the few we had bonded with.
We went back to our place, first stopping at the Artisanal Bread place – we bought a sourdough with black olives; and then back at our place. We unloaded and relaxed, listened to Worship 24/7 for much of the afternoon. Around 1500 we did take a swim in the pool. About 1730, we went for a walk on the beach. It was a nice sunset. Our walk completed, we had supper of watermelon and the fantastic sourdough-olive bread we had just bought.
Then talked with my mom, receiving great news. Lastly we were able to talk with our church back home.
February 3,
Jeff was awake when I finally fully awoke at 0730. We had our Javas and breakfast of soft-boiled eggs with crackers and yogurt. We wished we had thought of doing boiled eggs before now – oh well.
Then we talked with my sister. She said the snow has finally melted there, and the high for Monday was supposed to have been 70 degrees F. Crazy!! Next we talked with Jeff’s sister and her husband – who is rooting for Taylor Swift in the Superbowl it seems.😂🤣 It is always good to talk with family. I am so glad we get with them practically every week!
Anyway, we finished and were now hungry. So we went out on our Little Honda and went to Lucky Restaurant, a Google recommended Thai/fish place. We ordered two mains: Chu Chee Fish, with fish pieces cooked in a coconut milk curry with some heat from chillies, and has kaffir lime leaves & sweet Thai basil and some mild red peppers; and Fried Fish Cashew Nut, which had small fish fillets sauteed with cashews, onion, water spinach, carrots, baby corn, and garlic. Both dishes were excellent versions of Thai food that we love. We also had two scoops of rice and I had a watermelon shake, Jeff had a mango shake. Super great meal! It cost us 540 Baht ($15.88).
We left and went to a nail salon – near our place. She looked at what I wanted done from a logo. We communicated via Google translate. She was an artist! It took her two hours. The logo… drumroll 🥁… a KC arrowhead!!! How about those CHIEFS!!! She took most of the two hours and only charged $13.25. Jeff came when I texted and gave her basically $15. She did one big mistake, but it completes it as – 'Thai toes for those Chiefs!!' 😂🤣😂
While I was getting the pedicure, Jeff gassed up & washed the Little Honda. Then we went back to our place for an hour or so. Around 1730 left and drove to turn in our scooter.🥹 Across from where we returned the scooter was a big night food market. We went but we were still full from that great lunch. We only got some mango sticky rice. Then we watched the sunset from Nathan Pier for the first time. This is the main pier of Koh Samui Island, where the majority of the ferries, and all the cruise ships use for their tenders. The sunset was okay.
We booked a Grab taxi back to our place. We caught the last of the sunset – it was gorgeous. Now a bit hungry, we had a few crackers and blue cheese or last of our PB. Then we watched some YouTube, I blogged, Jeff read. Tomorrow we leave our “Island Paradise”! 😢🥹🥹
