Living our dream,

 traveling the world!

Koh Lipe, Thailand #39

Again this will be a three entry for the days- February 28, March 1,2…

     February 28,

At 0630, I awoke. I tossed and turned last night, but slept better than Jeff. He had been mostly awake since 0400 he said. I'm chalking our sleep issues due to lack of activity from my foot and elevating it at night!! Anyway, Jeff went out to buy me a coffee – since no place could or would grind my coffee. I sat outside while he was gone. It was nice with a slight, “coolish” breeze and I heard so many different birds. When Jeff returned, we had our breakfast of Muesli and yogurt. Then Jeff spent time re-figuring how to get a phone. The delivery was delayed for here, and we won't be here when they rescheduled it. He finally will get one in Singapore… we think.🤔

Lunch was light – crackers with PB and the papaya salad from last night. I did get outside again and hobbled the walkway inside our walled resort. It was only around 600 steps, but it felt good. I am so stir-crazy😵‍💫 and frustrated😩 and restless😖 – all of those emotions came out in together in mass today! It is very maddening. Jeff started playing worship 24/7 this afternoon, which helped some – by helping me change focus!! Afternoon finally turned to evening.

Jeff went out for supper. We had a grilled chicken quarter and a Greek salad, which Jeff said he got at two different places. We also split a mango shake. Then we watched some YouTube.

      March 1,

At 0600 we woke up, but not about until 0700! I did not want to get up, but I had a mind set change, thankfully (and I needed to use the bathroom.🤭 Jeff went out to acquire our Javas – me an Iced Americano Coffee and him a Chocolate Milk. Then he went back out and got us Muesli- for breakfast; Ibuprofen- which I am using around the clock for swelling; and a 6L water. I tried to make the bed and tidy up some, because I feel so useless. Jeff is doing everything! When he came back, he finished by sweeping – sand gets everywhere. One big pitfall of living off a beach, but that is very negotiable!👍🏻 We ate breakfast and watched some Youtube. I have resigned myself that I'm not gonna be exploring this island.🙎🏻‍♀️ But I did do a stroll/hobble inside the resort again, getting another measly 600 steps. I did notice it is more windy today. The rest of the morning, was researching and getting our arrival cards for Malaysia.

Lunchtime was light again, as we are not expending energy – we don’t have to replace many calories!! That is an understatement for me.🤣😂 Anyway we had some French bread with blue cheese, and some pickled mango. Then siesta time, because, well why not!!

For supper Jeff went out to the Steakhouse here and got us an order of onion rings, garlic bread, and creamy mashed potatoes- which we topped with some of our blue cheese. It worked for us!

     March 2,

Up and about around 0700, neither of us having slept well. Jeff helped me shower, because I still can't get my foot wet. I have to put my foot in a double plastic bag and sit on the floor to keep my foot elevated. This way gravity won't assist the water. It's a lot of “rigmarole” just to shower!! Anyway, Jeff then redress my foot then went out to forage breakfast. Today is one week since my foot injury, so may get the stitches out. We'll see. Jeff returned and we had our Javas, a cinnamon roll, some banana bread, and a brownie-type cake. YUM!!😋 Breakfast of champions! Lunch was light bread and last of the blue cheese. The morning and afternoon–same, same, but different day.

Around 1615, we left our place! I'm so excited!! We had the reception person hire us a ride to the Siam Clinic. When we arrived no one else was at the clinic, so I was seen right away. A staff person looked at my foot wound. She said the stitches could come out. Yay!! Glory be! She cleaned the wound, and cut the stitches out using a pair of scissors and tweezers. The scissors seemed too large, and it did cause some discomfort. Then she picked at the wound to remove 'a clot', she said. That was very uncomfortable!  Anyway, she cleaned it up and redressed it. I have to come back in the morning for a check up. Jeff paid the tab- 1,000 Baht, which is $29.20. So all said and done… This injury cost us about $100 in medical expenses. (Transportation to and from the clinics is not included in that.) As I was being worked on a mom with her kid came in. The boy had something in his foot! He has my sympathy!!

We left and walked, slowly to get supper. It was my first exploring the island, so I was visually taking it all in. Jeff had a restaurant in mind, The Elephant Cafe and Bar. We had a Poke Bowl of Smoked Salmon, Mango, Edamame, Ponzu Slaw, and Coconut Brown Rice topped with a creamy Wasabi Sauce; and a Backpacker Bowl of Kaprow Pork, Brown Rice, Egg Ribbons – like egg noodles – and cucumber. I had a watermelon shake and Jeff had a lemon shake. The meal was great and cost 700 Baht, or $20.44.

Finished, we walked back via the beach. I did okay, but still gimpy. We arrived back at our place and I propped up my foot watching a bit of YouTube. Then we did a video WhatsApp with my mom and her husband. Lastly, we did an Zoom meeting with our church back home.
