Ko Samui, Thailand #7

January 13,
Slowly up and about. I'm still having some GI issues. We had our Javas and breakfast. We tried to do a fried egg again, but another fiasco. They ended up being more scrambled. It works, I guess.😐
We talked with my sister – they were dealing with ice and snow. Then talked with Jeff's sister and her husband – they were dealing with fires. WOW! Praying for all of you.🙏🏻 Then we caught up on the NFL Playoffs. We wanted to go out and about but I don't know if I want to be too far from the bathroom. So Jeff went and got us lunch. He had Tom Kha Gai – a coconut milk soup with chicken, lemongrass, galangal, Kaffir lime leaves, and mushrooms. Me, well, I had rice.
Evening came and repeat of lunch Jeff went out again, but he also went to the store and an ATM. When he came back, we ate. I stuck with my rice he had Garlic Pork with rice and a slaw salad. I did branch out a had some pretzels we had found. We both had watermelon for dessert. Around 2030, we heard and saw fireworks. I don't know why they were being shot off – questions? But it was great to see them.🎆
January 14,
Awoke and we both had great nights sleep, and I felt good. Outside is white fluffy clouds not gray, scary ones. Yeah! We noticed the cruise ship out in the bay area, anchored up. We had our Javas and breakfast of Muesli, yogurt, and milk. Then we went out for a swim in the ocean. It was high tide and the waves were definite in moving us about. I did not last long – too much salt water intake! 😂🤣 We went back to the pool, got some laps and a bit of exercise.
Around 1130, we loaded on our Little Honda and took off. We set off for the north part of Ko Samui – which by the way can be spelled Ko or Koh. Jeff had found Fi Greek Restaurant online and we wanted to try it. We arrived and ordered, having an appetizer of Feta cheese and EVOO; Moussaka Classic, which is like a lasagna of beef, potatoes, and eggplant with a bechamel sauce; and Souvlaki Lamb Kebab Plate with lamb skewers, fries, pita and tzatziki. I had a mango smoothie and Jeff had a pineapple one. This meal transported me back to Greece with that first bite as our Sri Lankan meal had done when we were in Bangkok. This is always so special when it happens! We paid 1100 Baht ($31.71).
Then we crossed the street, literally and went to the Big C grocery store, got a few items and drove back to our place, a different way. We had basically cruised the whole island now – it was fun! We arrived back by 1430, when our cleaning lady might be showing up – we were slated for 1430-1500. I unloaded as Jeff went back out to get more water. Our cleaning lady showed up at 1500, but needed to eat lunch first. She came back 15 minutes later and finished by 1600. So we now set out, laundry in hand. We found a laundry place – that actually had dryers as well, changed 100 Baht into tokens and did a load of laundry.
Made it back to our place for sunset and then French type dinner. Then we watched a movie. Good day of simple living somewhere else.
