Living our dream,

 traveling the world!

Hoi An, Vietnam #35

     November 20,

When I awakened this morning, first thing I noticed — my back when I tried to roll over. I did not sleep well either, using the TENS unit throughout the night. Really, Really glad we kept this and took it. Then I had a deep cough… OUCH & Eureka! That is what has caused my back issue. Anyway, at least I know the culprit — it's more horizontal action again today.

We had our Javas and went to breakfast – I went gingerly. We had the Cao Lau and Quang Noodles. I'm glad Jeff has adapted to different food for breakfast. We had watermelon juices and fruit plate with passion fruit – of which I am becoming less a fan of. The novelty has lessened and I find it a bit to acidic, stringent citrus. The English couple was there the same time as us. They are leaving today – as always we wished them safe travels.

Now we went back to our room and vegetated. Morning gave way to afternoon. We had lunch Jeff had obtained from a close, very local place (we had seen a whole pig being rostisseried here a few days ago). He got half of a chicken, greens & mango-ginger salad, and a spicy dipping sauce. He had asked for rice but we did not have any. The bill was 130K Dong ($5.11). We only ate 2/3 of the chicken. Evening was chill and supper was granola mix. Bedtime was around 2100.

—-November 21,

I woke at 0500, for the first time all night, but this was due to my CPAP not working – not my back. Yay!!! I was able to go back to sleep but not Jeff. 🙁 We got around and had our Javas, then to breakfast. We both ordered an omelet, but both received just two fried eggs and white sandwich bread. My back was finally cooperating, mostly. Our drinks were iced tea and lemon juice, and fruit plate of passion fruit and bananas – we did not eat all the passion fruit – Jeff is tired of it also.

We were going back to our room, when our host broached the idea of us leaving here and going to his sister's place, because of the construction on the road outside. He actually set a date of leaving here Saturday after breakfast. He has approached us about this before, but this time he said he is closing down… So, what could we say but okay. We don't know where his sister's place is, the name of it — nothing. It seemed a bit foreboding! What to do?? Back in our room Jeff started doing his Jeff stuff – planning, sorting and rearranging things! Then it started raining again, more, whatever you want to say. The weather is supposed to be rainy pretty much for the next week. We both decided to forego the Cham Island stay of four nights and just go/stay in the city of Da Nang (which is the third largest city and just 40 or so minutes away).

Jeff went out and got take-away for our lunch at Circle Restaurant. We had spicy corn; mango avocado salad; and lemongrass chicken stir-fry with rice. So Yummy! Then afternoon lead to evening… supper was left-over chicken from last night and rest of the mango avocado salad from lunch. Then I blogged and Jeff read. Unfortunately, Jeff has started with a cough, which I probabaly gave to him. It has continued to rain much of the day. Evening was laid back and little happening. My cough is mostly gone, and my back steadily improving. We will see what tomorrow holds.
