Granada, Day 3
May 7th
Today after breakfast, we were ready to head out. I realized I couldn't find my mini purse. It has my driver's license, some money and a couple of credit cards in it. Well, Jeff and I frantically looked all about our hotel room to no avail!! We thought of all the places we went yesterday and did I have it with me??? CRAZY!! So, we backtracked yesterday. I tried calling the restaurant where we had our late lunch – they don't open til 1pm. UGH!!
Started at Alhambra. At the information area, the lady helping us, called security. We had to hang out for about 20-30 minutes. Nothing fitting the description, but took my name, email and phone number. They said they would get back if heard anything or found it. UGH! Next we went to the Farmacia, closed. So looked it up online; it doesn't open at all on Sunday. UGH! Now it's noon. Found a great place for lunch. We both had Shawarma, fries and a drink. While there, I remembered my sister saying she had a phone call from what she thought was a Spanish sounding man, yesterday. She had texted Jeff the phone number. It was the number I called this morning for the restaurant! So at 1pm, we showed up at the restaurant. As soon as, I mentioned I was there yesterday… the guy went back and bought out my clutch!!!!!!! I was so elated, relieved and thankful. I took it. (It was all I could to not jump up and down, shouting praise to God). He motioned for me to look in it. I found it all there: money, driver's license, credit cards, and the card that mentions my sister as contact for emergency. W.O.W.Z.A.!! Now I did HUG him and thank him (in French, due to my overwhelming emotions). Big sigh of relief!!
Now we can relax, Jeff said he had been thinking of what we would have to do for credit cards and driver's license and to have new stuff sent… We went back to our hotel and decompressed. Jeff actually napped. I couldn't – still to jazzed.
At 3:00, we went to The Catedral de Granada. The building structure outside is huge! It takes up at least a whole city block. King Charles the fifth had it built in the 1500's. Inside, it is very white with the baroque, gold-embossed nave/sacristy. It is very stunning to say in the least. For your entry fee, you can scan a QR code that leads you about the whole cathedral with some in depth detail including paintings, some side chapels, and much more. We enjoyed our visit, immensely. Again I took a bunch of pictures – but only where allowed!
Leaving, we went to “our” Carrefore Expess, mini grocery store and picked up stuff for a light supper. WHEW! WHAT – A – DAY!
