Living our dream,

 traveling the world!

Georgetown, Malaysia #12

     October 2,

Today we awoke both a bit sore. We got in a total of 14,877 steps yesterday, so not too surprised. Jeff has the start of congestion/cold. We got around having our Javas and breakfast of left over rice with eggs, onion, & peppers with bread & butter.

Then I spent the rest of the morning to around two blogging about our grand tour yesterday. Jeff read and relaxed. His back was bothering him some, used the TENS unit. I can't say how much we are glad we brought this! Hopefully we can find some replacement pads soon because they need replaced.

Anyway, when I was done and we were hungry we went out for lunch. We went to the closest mall and checked out they places they had. We decided on Yi Zhen Nyonya Kitchen. It is Chinese based. We shared a set lunch of three mains, one rice, and one drink. Jeff chose Curry Chicken, Mang Guang Char (which ended up being a Jicama stir-fried with dried shrimp bits in an oyster sauce) and Lo Bak (which is a mince meat pork roll with Chinese 5 spice with Jicama). It was a light meal. We loved the Curry and Lo Bak, but not the Mang Guang Char. The last dish was too fishy tasing for us. Total bill was 22 MYR ($5.22).

Finished we went to the grocery store. We wanted to make our own fish tonight, and we found a nice fillet of Halibut. We also found a good looking Chardonnay from Argentina and some bread (+ other things we needed). We spent 157 MYR here – that's $37.23!

Arrived back at our place and finished the blog. Sometimes it is hard to decide what pictures and how many, especially after day of sight seeing like yesterday. Anyway, we had supper around 1800. Sauteed that Halibut in butter with some of our Sri Lankan homemade curry powder (it is amazing how aromatic it still is); with bread topped with hummus; and our wine. Bed by 2200.

     October 3,

We awoke to a sky covered in clouds! The only section on the horizon that was cloudless was lit up in pinks from the sunrise. It was beautiful to see that part. Jeff still congested– we say “snotty”. Ha-ha!! We had our Javas and decided on some Coconut French Toast. The egg was again another double yoke! I think of the six we bought, three so far have had this anomaly – only one left! We'll see. The packaging does call them “jumbo” eggs – I thought they were duck eggs but it doesn't say that on the package.

Anyway, today was supposed to be rainy all day so we decided to be homebodies. I spent this morning catching up on blogging and Jeff read as we waited for the rain that was very slowly coming our way. By lunchtime the rain had not reached us yet so we went the block or so to the mall. We stopped at Venti Restaurant and ordered. We chose Venti Fish & Chips- breaded local barramundi with fries and a veggies (the fish was okay, but fries were not hot); and Penang Authentic Hokkien Mee- egg noodles and rice noodles in a deep-red, rich broth base topped with HB egg, pork, prawns, bean sprouts and fried shallots with a side of red paste to add to your taste ( it was not spicy, may have been tamed down for us). Hokkien Mee, literally “Fujian noodles”, is a SE Asian dish originating in China's Fujian province. In Penang the dish is a soup. We also split a passionfruit smoothie and paid total of 69 MYR ($16.36) for lunch. We were both full but underwhelmed. Yesterday's lunch was better – we will not eat here again.

When we left we went to the Mercato grocery store for more supplies and supper stuff. Total here was 107.30 MYR ($25.45). As we exited the mall it started finally to rain, after threatening to all morning. We boogied back to our place. Supper was French type- gouda mustard cheese, salami, cashews, bread & hummus, and an Australian Shiraz Cabernet. Nice light days of simply living somewhere else!
