Dikwella, Sri Lanka #37
June 7,
This goes to one of our nephew's:
HAPPIEST BIRTHDAY !!!! We love you lots!
We started our day with some “last of”… as in last of our eggs, last of our tomatoes, onion, and 'happy' cheese. We also had a couple of yogurts. We are getting our food stash down because tomorrow we will leave “our house” here in Dikwella. Then we did a load of laundry.
The day was very overcast and rained off and on – mostly on. It is not in the way of thunderstorms anymore, but rather just a constant varying degree of wetness. Actually, reminds me of a dripping faucet… seems to never really shut off. Anyway, we took a chance at a break to go out for lunch. We tried The Pumpkin Cafe, but it was closed… as in no tables, chairs, or music. Wow! So we did a walk about along the surfing beach. Other eating places were also closed, except a few of the hotel restaurants. The Beach Bus was gone – its a bus converted into a food truck! Now, we know the tourist season is over down here, for sure!
We walked to the store for something for supper, and arrived back to our place, having got a few steps in. We had some cheese and crackers for lunch. Afternoon we just hung out, watched more monkey antics on the rooftops, and started some sorting/packing. Supper was some beef pieces we had chopped smaller, marinated in the cinnamon dressing – we like; curry powder; lime juice and S&P, then breaded and sauteed them in coconut oil. We had also bought about a cup of red rice at the store – cooked this and seasoned it with last coconut oil. Now we topped the rice with the beef. Not too bad, actually, this turned out pretty good! Bed around nine-ish!!
