Living our dream,

 traveling the world!

Dikwella, Sri Lanka #29

      May 27,

Yesterday, we started out on a trip to get water and some veggies from a stand. I also got some Muesli. Breakfast then was our Muesli and yogurt. This Muesli here (in the three stores we frequent) is the only kind we have found in Dikwella. It is imported – Kellogg's brand, so it is pricey. Basically, just over a dollar a bowl. Anyway, one of those things.

After that was just a chill morning. Lunchtime, we opted for just crackers and cheese. Jeff's foot continues to look a wee bit better, thankfully. I did not hear anything about my phone. ☹️ Really, so frustrated. We watched some You tube. Jeff went out in search of fish for supper. The Pumpkin Cafe was closed, so he went back to the Cargill's grocery and bought some fresh fish. I just assumed there was a line at the cafe, since he was gone for awhile. When he returned we marinated the fish for 20 minutes in the cinnamon dressing we have come to like a lot. Then we  pan seared the tuna steak. I made a Greek salad. Excellent meal!

Then I did a WhatsApp video call with my mother. It is great to be able to connect this way. Then another connection – Zoom, and we connected with our church family back home. So nice.😊

Today, we were able to start our day with more family ties – my sister and Jeff's sister. Also we decided to cancel my phone order!😢 There were just too many weird vibes going on. Jeff was able to get a full refund through Amazon, through a chat with them.  We made French Toast😋 for breakfast. And sorted through a phone haze – we are not sure which way to go for phone… buy a cheap one and wait until we get to Thailand to get a Pixel? Or look at an older version of Pixel that are available here?? Questions – what to do, Oh my! This is Jeff's wheelhouse to compare, contrast; not for me. So it was a very productive morning for him!

We went out for lunch to the real local place. Jeff had not been here yet. The place does quite a bit of take away – scooters, bikes (motored and pedaled), and tuk-tuks – all coming and going! It is a happening little restaurant. We had some curry and rice: one chicken and one fish. It was a heaping portion of rice topped with greens (actually bitter, neither of us liked too well), spicy dahl, creamed potato, couple of spoons of very spicy chillies, and the meat we'd ordered. Then it was topped with couple of pieces of crispy, fried chip-type bread. It was good and very filling, we could not finish the dishes. We stopped at a couple of local phone shops, just checking out what is available. Also went to a store, and decided to go back home along the beach. But, a hundred meters on the sand and remembered we needed to go to an ATM. So we cut back onto the main road. Everything is so close right here, it wasn't a big diversion.

Anyway, back at our place we had more rain and more nature – monkeys & peacocks, at different times on our roof today. Jeff went back down the rabbit hole of research on the phone. I laid down for a nap. Then around five we were both still feeling full, so we opted for some crackers for dinner. I then blogged and Jeff read. Jeff's foot really looks better so left it open for a few hours this evening, as a test. Thanks again for all your prayers for his foot healing!
