Dikwella, Sri Lanka #27
May 23,
I need to backup a bit. The evening of the 21st, Jeff started having a sharp pain in his foot!! It was also more red again! So said we need to get it checked out again! Same story, second verse… cleaned his foot, dressed it and ordered another round of antibiotics. At the pharmacy when I handed the script over, I told them I wanted two more days of the antibiotic. She reread and showed it was only for five days. I informed her this is the second of round treatment. She didn't blink and came back with seven days worth. So prayers are asked for – complete and final healing of his foot!!!
Yesterday, we started with Muesli and yogurts for breakfast. Mid morning was watching some You tube and bracing with the rain and some wind, having to 'batten the hatches' (not tornado strength thankfully, as some of you experienced recently). Then I went out for lunch, going to Pumpkin Cafe. I ordered an Egg Kottu, a Chicken Kottu and their “I Land” Salad. We split the Chicken Kottu, and had some crackers, opting to save the rest for later. Jeff laid down to elevate his foot. He is way stir crazy, wanting to get out and do something!! Understandable! I got some steps in around the house. Supper was the great salad, with more crackers and some 'happy cow' cheese. It was just a laid back day (way too many of these☹️)
Today, we started with French Toast. Jeff foot is mildly less red again. I have him taking Ibuprofen around the clock also – want to nip this infection “in the bud,” as my dad would have said! Anyway, Jeff got an e-mail from our host regarding an attraction here in Dikwella. It has to do with a traditional-made ten foot tall replica of a god and a parade. It maybe today or tomorrow as it is a holyday, dealing with the full moon tonight. The e-mail had a video clip. It was interesting, and had an interview of a couple of men who knew about how the replica was made, some 70- odd years ago. The stores are closed down, today – so the parade maybe, today – not sure as our host did not pass on this info. It would be nice to go but not happening with Jeff's foot issue – he's not a much of a parade guy anyway.
Also, we found out… da-da-da-da-dum… my phone was processed at Colombo customs last night and arrived at 2300 to DHL Delivery Facility!!! (🎆🎵Wonder of wonders!🎶) Anyway,🤞🤞🤞hopefully, I maybe receiving my Pixel 7A, tomorrow? (with it being a holyday, who knows!)
Lunch was a half of the left over Egg Kottu and half of a Greek salad we made – the other halves will be our dinner tonight. There was a break in the rain, so I went out to explore (and get out of the house, as I am stir crazy also.) I went to the beach. The waves were very big and active, and this had a handful of some locals surfing. But by far, around 30-50 people/families were just enjoying their day off and splashing about the water.
On my way back home, I saw three cheeky monkeys foraging. One found a mango and was enjoying it so. I snapped a photo of him. When I arrived back, Jeff said you missed the excitement! He saw our Kingfisher, Kali. But when he got up to look he saw a 4.5-5 foot snake! We think it was a Rat Snake… BTW I haven't seen Sammy the Skink for a couple of days.😧😢 I'm glad to have missed the snake!!!
Love you all. Thanks for your prayers! Blessings!!
