Dikwella, Sri Lanka #25

May 19,
Yesterday, we started with a breakfast of champions – yogurt and cookies! Don't judge!!! It was simple and light – after all the big meals we had the two prior days; and it was about all we had left to eat. It rained much of the day off and on. So lunch was PB & J/Nutella sandwiches. There was a break in the weather so I went out to Clear Point Restaurant for supper. I ordered us a pizza – Chicken and Mushroom. As I was carrying it back I had three dog friends follow me for a bit!🤭 Sadly, it was edible, but not great.
I did manage a store run, and Jeff came out part of the way – he went to the water place to get our refill. He took the 19 liter water (around a 5 gallon equivalent) and some stuff I had bought at the first store, hired a tuk-tuk and went back. I continued on to two other stores and then walked back. His foot did well, and was a good small trial.
Two things of note happened yesterday. First, on Friday, we had received a gizmo (how's that for high tech lingo) that can plug into my poor, old, damaged phone and allow Jeff to open it via a mouse! So today he played with my phone and was able to back it up – photos, etc. It is crazy that the phone even works! The glass front has big shatter places that has caused about one quarter length of the screen to be – just whited out, and not allowing any touch functioning. The second thing notable, also dealt with my phone situation. We received something from DHL… but not my new phone. It was more paperwork!… As in, just a “reminder” that DHL has a “detained” package for me, and to “please make immediate arrangement to clear the above shipment.” …. Well, Really!?!! It kind of was offensive, and worked up my ire!! As Jeff said it's the classic case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. Soo… Many. Questions.!
One more thing, I almost forgot. Jeff had a text from our host – something about needing help?? Jeff sent back we were okay and didn't need help. Ended up, someone was at the gate. It was a prospective buyer of the place, and he wanted to check it out. So this place is for sale, which makes more sense why the host had his place out on Booking.com. But it brings up many questions as well. All we can know is that by us booking it, he made some money on it before it sells. We have been/were (?) the only ones to have booked it from booking.com, we think. I have noticed quite a few for sale signs around here, which raises more questions. But we don't know the economy of this area. Is it COVID related? Anyway…
Today was more of the rain through the night and to start this morning. There was a break around 0900 so we (Jeff went out again! Yeah!!) went to the store. We had just a few more things… you don't tend to buy much when you have to carry it back! After we got back, literally three minutes, it started pouring rain again!! WHEW! We had breakfast of Muesli and yogurt. Then I tended Jeff's foot. Looking soo much better!! Finally!
Lunch was me going out to a new restaurant, The Garlic Cafe. The special was Mahi Mahi Curry with Yellow Coconut Milk and Red Rice! So I ordered one of those and a Veggie Egg Stir-fried Rice to go. It took a long time for my food to come out – did they have to go catch the Mahi??🤣 Anyway, I was returning with it when Jeff texted me – Are you having trouble? When I arrived home, we ate. It was good! The Mahi curry had great flavor and the red rice had some spicy coconut sambal, that when mixed with the Mahi curry complemented and actually made the dish. The stir-fried rice was good. We will probably have a light supper and hope to see many of you soon. God bless!!
