Dikwella, Sri Lanka #24

May 17,
Well, the rainy season has started!!🌧️⛈️🌦️
Yesterday, we started the day with sun, but like 99.9% humidity! We started eating, with leftovers – from Rosie's – for breakfast. We opted for the Hard-boiled Egg Curry with some Red rice; Dahl; and the last Hopper – the bowl pancake. After we finished, we were able to reconfigure the leftovers we still had into different containers. So now I could take back the dishes to Rosie and pay her. She was very busy with around ten guests coming or going. I gave her 2,000 rupees ($6.71, so a 71 cent tip!). Still wrapping my head around the amount of food for that little money. Anyway, we did not talk much, but she did say to WhatsApp if I needed anymore food!! 🤣😂 Lunch was more of those delicious leftovers: Pineapple Curry and Holy Basil Curry with the last of the Red Rice… And with this meal, finally finished off Rosie's eleven course meal – being three full meals for us!!
We spent some of the afternoon, watching You tube. Jeff's foot is taking longer to heal, but making small improvements daily. I went to the store, by way a of a coffee place, that did not pan out. Supper was simple PB & J or Nutella sandwiches. No real sunset and the rain started in the evening until bedtime.
Today, we started with a light shower that stopped quickly enough. Breakfast was bacon and tomato sandwiches, last of our mango juice, and last of our coffee and hot chocolate fixing's.
Just as we finished, Jeff got a text from our host – he said he'll be by around noon to get our trash. Noon came and went, but it's okay as we had no definite plans. Lunch was leftover pasta with “camp toast” – bread sauteed in a skillet. Jeff's family used to have this on camping trips, hence camp toast name.
We had a visitor in our bathroom, a snail! I snapped a photo. Then we had one in the kitchen as well!! Crazy town!!! It now started raining and raining. Our host came about five (the rain may have played a factor in his delay – he's on a scooter). He took our trash and asked if we needed anything. We denied any need. Then he asked if we wanted a Sri Lankan meal from them. Well, of course we would take him up on the offer. He said it would not be today – we all chuckled, rightly so. Then he mentioned his wife works during the day, so he'd get back with us. So nice!
We were getting ready for supper then when Jeff received a phone call. A lady from DHL. They needed more stuff!!! Unbelievable! But thankfully Jeff could send the needed things by pdf.!! This is the wildest! It should not be this hard to receive something by delivery! At least the lady sent back an email that she received it, and it was what was needed. It has to do some with making sure a shipping and handling fee has been paid. So then we settled to supper of Muesli and little sliced cucumber/feta cheese/cracker finger sandwiches. As we finished the rains started back up and were off and on much of the night. Yep, we are in rainy season!
