Living our dream,

 traveling the world!

   May 13,

                Belatedly,    Happy Mother's Day !!!

Yesterday, we had Muesli and a mango, that our gracious neighbor gave us. Nice way to start the day! We chilled after. Then I went to Pumpkin Cafe for Kottu – one chicken and one egg and veggie. It was very good and almost half the price of the fish dish we had two days ago. It was 2,550 rupees ($8.50). This shows the difference in getting more local dishes compared to tourist dishes. It was very good and we had leftovers this time. After lunch, Jeff was getting a bit stir crazy. So we decided to go out to a grocery store. We had a list but only really found around 2/3 of the items. With it being Sunday?, we did not see many tuk-tuks (don't know if this is the reason. Questions??)

We hoofed the stuff back to our place and Jeff went back out to get us water. Since we don't drink tap water, we buy our water. Usually we get 5 liter bottles as we go through about one of these everyday. But here, we bought a water dispenser. Since we are here one month, it will be cheaper in the long run. The refillable jug holds 19 liters of water. Anyway, when he returned, walking, we looked at his foot. It was too soon, as the little scab opened and was weeping. Minor set back, he will have to continue to lay low, probably a day or two longer! But we are all set so that he can!

Supper was bacon and tomato sandwiches with mango chutney and another sliced fresh mango. Then we connected with my mom and our church back home. Bed by 2230.

Today, again laid back, we had leftover stir-fried rice (from two days ago) with a couple of eggs added. Quite lovely! Then we just chilled watching more You tube videos. I also saw the salamander or skink again (first saw him yesterday) just outside of our kitchen. He watches me, I watch him. But he seems to stay right in the little rock bed there, which is just fine.

For lunch we had leftover Kottu. Then Jeff got a call from a delivery service for my phone case, not my new phone.(My phone is supposed still in Colombo clearing customs????) Anyway, he had to go out to find the guy! He finally did and returned with the new phone case. Yeah!! But he was not happy – it shouldn't be so hard to have stuff delivered. We have had issues in so many places abroad! It should be easy, right? I mean, you have an address!  Questions?? Anyway, hopefully I get the phone to make it semi-worth it!

Supper we made Greek salad, ate the last great mango, and had some lemon cookies!!
