Delhi, India #78
March 18
Yesterday, was a chill day. We started out with cold, leftover pizza for breakfast. This is always a great way to start a day as far as I am concerned! After we ate and Jeff seemed to be okay-'ish', he's still having mild issues. At least he was up to go out. He had to get a new electric razor, and he researched where to go. So we went there. When we arrived at the store, there were like five employees at the entrance to greet us (okay, that was overstaffing). One of them, directed us to another staff member. She took us to the only razor they had in the store! There were around ten trimmers for beards and moustaches, but only the one electric razor. So Jeff picked up the box. It had tape covering the lid. So it had been opened (several times?), if not even bought and returned. So Jeff wanted to open it to make sure it was in proper shape, and the employee stopped him. “You can't open it,” she said. Well, long story short, we left without a purchase.
We walked on… at least we are getting some steps in. Now we decided to get some lunch. I was leaving this up to Jeff to pick. He actually saw a Subway shop! So we each had a six inch sub. I had a Great American BBQ (with chicken! and BBQ sauce, which was good, not Great); and Jeff opted for the egg and cheese (which did not include any veggies!?!). At least he was hungry (and no repercussions as of this morning). Next we went to a couple of coffee roasters and found one for me (The previous coffee – Doubleshot – has turned out to be more bitter than I like.) Also found a pharmacy open on a Sunday and bought couple items (one being a antibiotic with a couple of spare times to use for the future.) After this we were heading back, we stopped a fruit stand and bought some nice looking plumsX2, bananasX2, a 'sweet' mango, a pear and an apple. Also stopped and bought a small loaf of bread. This was dinner (minus the mango and bananas – they will be breakfast).
When we arrived back at our place. Jeff looked up and bought a razor online with delivery. As soon as he placed the order, it was supposed to be delivered in fourteen minutes! Yeah, right!! Bur shocker, and eat my words– it arrived in the fourteen minutes!!! That was incredible! Then we caught up with my mother, and church family/ service all back home. It was great to share our safari adventures with loved ones. Bed by 2300.
Today, we talked with my sister and Jeff's sister, again remembering and retelling of our great experience on safari. It really was a great way to end our India trip! We had the bananas and mango for breakfast. The sweet mango.. well I really enjoyed that. So juicy and unbelievably sweet! Jeff was not a fan(he thought it had a perfumy taste). After we ate, we hung out a bit for Jeff's sake… in case.
After an hour or so, we decided to venture out, also decided to just walkabout without any real place we wanted to go! We passed by some roadside fruit stands. They were a rainbow of colors! It was so very eye appealing and pleasing. Jeff had seen a green space nearby on Google maps. It was a good little park and was being enjoyed by quite a few! Also the park skirts the big Lotus Temple. It was closed today, but we admired it through the chain-link fence surrounding the temple complex.
From here, we left the park. Only thing on the agenda now was to get food. While we were searching we did see another pharmacy. We stopped as Jeff took the last Imodium we had (we forgot to get it yesterday). As we were waiting for the person to help us, we did get some pet therapy in. They had a huge dog out front and he just was begging for pets. This dog reminded me of the neighborhood Saint Bernard – Wilt was his name – where I grew up. They both were about the same size and both were just as clumsy, in- the-way-loveable. Anyway, after leaving (and removing all the coarse hair from our clothes), we found lunch. The restaurant was Novelty Chicken Corner. They had a spicket of chicken that looked great. So we went up to the sit down area . We ordered a half of a Tandoori Chicken and a two piece Chicken Shawarma Roll. They looked great but my stomach did a lurch so I stopped eating, and ordered a side of french fries. Sometimes I just get a taste of some herb that just sets me off. I wish I knew which one it was, but I still have not isolated it. Jeff was thankfully having no problem 😋!! We did have to get the last of the Tandoori Chicken to go.
Now we just meandered back to our place. We did stop at a fruit stand and picked up a small watermelon. We had seen a bunch of these, and both thought that it would be good for supper. Jeff will eat the last of the chicken and I'll stick with some nuts to accompany the fruit.
Tomorrow afternoon, we will be leaving India, flying to Kathmandu, Nepal. We will be coming back to India within the next five years, as we have a five year Visa, but it may be a couple of years form now. India is definitely (and obviously) a different country, but it has its positives as well its drawbacks. It also has left me with mixed feelings🤔🙃🙂😮😊 and many, many questions🤣!!
