Living our dream,

 traveling the world!

DaLat, Vietnam #28

–September 15,

This morning we were up and about – going to La Viet for morning coffees. That's right, Jeff ordered his first coffee – I'm so proud! It was a coconut milk iced coffee. Jeff, maybe has come to the dark side! I had a black drip coffee. Both were good. So I bought a package of beans here as they were able to grind there. We also had an order of Toasted Banana Bread and a “Croffle” – cross between a croissant and a waffle, topped with coconut ice cream and strawberry sauce. Most excellent start of the day!!

On our way back to the hotel, Jeff got haircut. With the first zip the barber looked at me for confirmation. Wow! Well, I thought it is short, but what will the barber do — paste Jeff's hair back on?? Anyway, he won't be needing a haircut for some time now! Finished we went back to our place. We relaxed and listened to Worship 24/7. When we were ready for late lunch – early dinner, we went out around 1330.

As soon as we stepped out, it started spitting. Really? So Jeff called a Grab taxi. It arrived and we went to Steak Viet Restaurant. It was time for steak and we took one of our bottles of wine hopeful that they would allow us to open it. They did (for a corkage fee). Yeah! We ordered appetizers of buttered garlic bread and a garden salad. For mains we ordered: Australia Steak Grill with green pepper sauce; and Smoked Goose Breast Wine Sake with mustard sauce. We had the same sides: a small salad and half of a baked potato. Both mains were excellent. The steak, Jeff had ordered medium rare and it came as rare, so I ended up eating it mostly – such a sacrifice! The green peppercorn sauce was fantastic. Jeff took over the goose plate. The goose was the best for both us, though, I think. It was so smokey, tender, and hint of sweet from the marinade. Then dipping it into the tang of the mustard sauce… Ummm, superfine! Our  2019 Cab/Sav wine  complimented both dishes well. The potato was the right size but they added a “too sweet” butter sauce. Overall, great meal!!

We left and were able to walk back as the rain had stopped. We spent the afternoon listening to more music. Also we listened to one of our church services from back home. We had light snack of nuts and crackers in the evening. I was able to WhatsApp video with my mother. Then we Zoom linked with some from our church.

Still enjoying DaLat!

—September 16,

Started our day with our day with our Javas — me coffee, Jeff his Hot Chocolate (he's not ready for my coffee yet–HEE HEE!) Then we watched the news clip of my mom and her husband – they were on a local news channel back home. Next we did WhatsApp video with my sister, then we had our breakfast Muesli and yogurt. When we finished it was time to WhatsApp video with Jeff's sister and her husband.

Now we set out for lunch, but I had a dizzy spell😵‍💫🫨 about halfway to our lunch place. So we stopped, I sat as Jeff bought some water, and called a taxi back to our place. I don't know what the issue was, but I'm chalking up to possibly a low blood sugar and/or low blood pressure. Jeff went out and got us food, as I laid down, which helped some. He brought back a local stand/stall's Kebabs and some potato chips from a convenience store. We ate them heartily. They were great!

So the rest of the afternoon we just took it easy and I felt better – back to normal by supper time. Jeff went out again and found a place that was doing Crepes (Ty Crepe). Jeff said the guy was French and had just opened his cafe – coming on their sixth week! The Crepe was filled with bell peppers, onions, and German sausage. Fantastic! We also split another bag of chips – it was a “chippy” kind of day.

Later we were able to connect via Zoom with our church brethren back home.
