Da Lat, Vietnam #64

December 31,
I awoke at 0430… obviously, I did not sleep well. Then was able to nap off and on. Finally got up and around. We had our Javas, which I needed! For breakfast we had a baguette that we turned into French toast, and some of Da Lat’s homemade yogurt. It is so good! Then we did a load of laundry and watched some You tube, listened to some music and just chilled out. We may be getting a Shopee delivery today, not sure as order info page is not being very informative – less than normal even.
The weather outside is frightful🎵… not snow, but it is colder and total gray, white sky! The weather app did not call for rain until tonight, but well, we have had this report before. So we just, hunkered in and had a not much of anything day. Morning gave way to afternoon, albeit, late afternoon. We just listened to music and did normal nothing stuff.
Finally, around 1530, we went out to eat. We chose Blue Parrot Mexican Grill. It was just over four tenths of a mile walk. So we set out, chancing the weather. We arrived without rain. Yahoo!
There was only five tables inside, and one was occupied. It turned out the family of three were American as well, from New York. Anyway, our waitress was super friendly – I think she wanted to practice her English, which she did very well. The inside of the place was decorated like a patio outside a home with all sorts of framed quotes, that caused us to chuckle… they were not necessarily Mexican sayings, but it was fun. The style decor reminded me of the chain On The Border, back in the States. The table frames were repurposed items – one was a bicycle, ours was the bottom frame of an old sewing machine.
When our food came the waitress left us alone to it, better than some over friendly wait staff we have experienced. Anyway, we had a starter of Chips, Salsa, and Guacamole – homemade chips and great salsa; with an okay guac (lacked zing, but avocado was good). Then we chose two mains: Steak Fajitas that were accompanied with beans, rice, small bit of cheese, small bowl of salad, and three tortillas; and Chicken Fajita Tacos X3, that were loaded with lettuce, tomato, cheese and a drizzle of maybe sour cream (for sure cream). We had wanted some Mole which was on the menu, but it was not available. This unfortunately is more common than not – stuff not available that is on the menu. The mains were great. The fajita seasoning was a taste very similar to a Mole, that I felt we had Mole, almost. I had a regular lime margarita, and Jeff had beer. Finished and full we asked for the check. It was just under 800,000 Dong ($31.39).
We left and walked back to our place. We needed to, due to all that food! The weather app stayed true no rain that we knew of, but should start anytime now. We made and Jeff even was able to go around the corner, so to speak and buy our last 20 liter water for 15,000 Dong (59 cents).
With that, we settled back in, hope and plan to stay up and ring in the New Year. With that said…
Happy New Year to all, and God Bless!!!
