Da Lat, Vietnam #62

December 28,
Awoke to significant rain at 0040! I could not go back to sleep until couple hours later. So I slept in, off and on until 0800. I think Jeff woke around six, when it was raining again. Up and around having our Javas and breakfast of Muesli with yogurt for me; Jeff had yogurt and toast – one with PB, one with Nutella.
When we were finished, it warmed up a bit & the weather seem to clear up. My Weather App showed only 10-15% chance of rain. Around 1030, we set out, getting about 20 yards and it started drizzling. What?? Really!!🤨 We turned around and went back inside our place. At noon, the sun was out – so we tried in again. We made it about a 1/3 of the way around lake, when it started a light drizzle! 🙄😒 There was a snap to the wind and the lake had some wind affect movement on the top- not white-capping though. We found a spot to get out of the drizzle, and Jeff opened his Grab App to call for a ride. He had just placed the request when it stopped drizzling and the sun peeked out. So he canceled the order, as no one had accepted it yet. We continued on walking and about another 1/3 of the way it started a lighter drizzle again! We just waited this time. Same thing… the drizzling stopped and the sun peeked out. Talk about peek-a-boo!!🫣
We made it to the Go Shopping Center and checked out the sound check going on for another concert tonight. There is a lot more security, so I checked it out. It is called “Concert Four Seasons of Love.” It is a pay concert – prices seem to range from 299,000 to 3,500,000 Dong ($11.75 to $137.50)!! This seems to be very pricey for Vietnam! There are like 10 Vietnamese performers listed… but still! Needless to say we won’t be going to it.
We finally, made it around the lake and went to LPH – Lee’s Pizza House, for lunch. We ordered, having – Smoked Salmon with seasonal greens and radishes topped with Parmesan cheese and a vinaigrette dressing; Pumpkin Soup topped with cream and served with toasted bread; and a Four Mushroom Pizza – Shiitake, Reishi, Enoki, and Oyster Mushrooms with mushroom sauce, truffle oil, parsley, and Mozzarella cheese. Lunch was great! (We had eaten at LPH our first time in Da Lat.) I had a Mojito and Jeff a Tiger Beer. The bill was 500,000 Dong ($19.64).
We walked back to our place, stopping at a local fruit/veggie stand right down our street to buy some grapes. We had a laid back afternoon. I wrote this blog and Jeff read. I also made a fruit salad for supper. The salad had an apple, grapes, mango slivers, minced red onion, fresh mint and a lime-yogurt dressing I made. Supper was that salad and three country sausages. Then we watched a movie. Another good day.
