Da Lat, Vietnam #58

December 22,
Today we awoke got around, having our Javas & Muesli, yogurt, and milk. The skies were partly cloudy as a front has moved in. 😒 But no rain was predicted, so we got finished up and headed out for a trek.
We did our two mile lap of the lakeside. We noticed the burn spots in the grass and the charcoal on the pathway from the cooking fires last night. It did not look good and still made us wonder about the whole issue.🤔🤨 Anyway, we stopped at the Go shopping mall grocery store, and bought what we needed. We arrived back at our place, unloaded, and went back out for lunch.
We went to Com Tam Co Hai, placing our order before we sat at the only table left. We found this place from a You tuber, who had listed five local places to eat at here in Da Lat. His # 1 choice was one we had already eaten at X2. So we thought we’d give this one a try. We had a starter of soup – simple broth soup with pieces of greens; a big scoop of broken rice with green onion oil; a marinated pork fillet – semisweet with a thick molasses-type sauce; a sunny side up egg; a small cube of some egg omelet; shredded pickled radish; and shredded pork skin with a garnish of cucumbers. It was delicious. Just as we were served our food another couple entered without a place to sit. I motioned they could sit with us and they did. This is very common – people sit at empty chairs with others at the table in these local places. They were hesitate though, I think because we are foreigners. I spoke with them first, breaking the ice. They were from Hoi An area and were vacationing here this weekend – seemed like a nice young couple. They had the same dish as us, as most probably do here – this is what the place is known for. Anyway, it was great, some conversation and awesome food. Finished, I went to the restroom and Jeff paid. As we were walking out I asked him how much it was. Then he told me that he paid for the other couples meals as well! The grand total for all four meals and our two drinks was 235,000 Dong ($9.23).
Back at our place, I blogged and Jeff read. Then we had a light French-type supper; & watched a movie on the TV via our laptop. There were some fireworks that we heard but did not see. Someone was celebrating somewhere close by. We then talked with my mom on WhatsApp; and lastly Zoomed with our church back in the USA.
