Living our dream,

 traveling the world!

Da Lat, Vietnam #54

      December 17,

Today we awoke to blue skies!! Yahoo! We set about to our Javas and breakfast of bacon and egg sandwiches. Now we set out to take advantage of the beautiful day! As soon as we stepped out, I just stood for a minute to soak in the sunshine! 😎

Then we took off, passing through the close by roundabout and navigating traffic. Some gardeners were working on the musical- figurines topiaries in the circle of the roundabout. From here we come to the bridge of metal musical sculptures and just took off to walk around the lake. It is actually two mile trek around it, but it was so gorgeous it surprised me that it was that far. Around the lake are all manner of flower beds with every color that flowers come in. There are banners all around advertising Festival Hoa Da Lat – tenth year. The info online describes the festival as…

“Da Lat Flower Festival with the theme 'Da Lat Flowers – Symphony of Colors'… The program's overall content is built on the spirit of honoring flowers and music. These are the two major elements that make up Da Lat tourism.”

The article goes to say it will last until New Years Eve— cool! We are here through the end. I could not find a real list of schedule of events throughout the festival so we will have to keep our eyes peeled. Anyway, we trekked on to one end of the lake and in the little island – passing by the rose bed – still blooming! We remembered the bed from the 3-4 months ago when we were here prior. They are still as beautiful! Here we also pass by the Dalat Flower Park, which we also saw last time. We kept on going around, seeing a couple of fishermen along the lake shore. No one was out on the swan boats. Now we came to our shopping mall, they are putting up big scaffolding in front of here – will be interesting to see what it becomes.

Anyway, we returned to our place from our lovely trek. Then we had lunch of PB&J – the jam is a mango and cinnamon puree. We ate at our place because Jeff figured out how to return my shirts. They will come and pick them up. So Jeff went to get the label printed at a local print shop – I stayed back in case the pick-up man came. When Jeff returned, he said the label only cost 4 cents to get from the pdf and have printed out! We waited the whole rest of the afternoon and evening, but that ended up being in vain. No “pick up” man ever showed. So we ate in supper as well – having our left over chili (finishing this off) and some of the watermelon salad.

Around 2130, we gave up and Jeff cancelled the pick up – tomorrow we will take it to a Shopee return place. Bed by 2200… what glorious sunshiny day!!
