Chiang Mai, Thailand #4

May 13,
I woke up feeling the worse I had felt since I actually had the cold that triggered the cascade of nasal drainage about 4 weeks ago!!! My blood pressure was also elevated – enough that I took a blood pressure pill! I think it was up due to the allergy/cold medications. With all this we decided I needed to be on an antibiotic, So Jeff went to get me one for a sinus infection. You can get these at the pharmacies here without a prescription. Anyway, we settled about to an uneventful, do-nothing day.🫥😒
Breakfast was Muesli with yogurts after our Javas of course. We were unable to talk with Jeff’s sister, but will try tomorrow. Then I napped, quite a bit actually, off and on. Jeff read and planned. He went out and got us bread for lunch. He also bought a piece of a cheese quiche. So we split the quiche and a baguette that we made into a salami sandwich. I then rested more.
It rained last evening and started raining again this evening. I’m not complaining though because the sky has cleared a bunch. There is nothing like a good rain to clear it up! Hopefully, I feel up to getting out and about tomorrow. For supper Jeff went back out and bought some fried chicken thighs and chicken fried rice for dinner. It was close to comfort food.
May 14,
I awakened and definitely felt better, hopeful (fingers crossed). We had our Javas and our breakfast of scrambled eggs with leftover chicken fried rice. We have a mouse problem in our condo! So we had bought some rat poison and set it out, which means each morning requires a bit of clean up, but not a dead mouse yet.
Anyway, a more positive note, we talked with Jeff’s sister. She had a good mother’s day with one of her kids being able to fly out see her and spend time as a family out and about – involving eating at Downtown Disney a couple of times!😃 After we finished our video call with her, we set out on our scooter to the five story mall to get steps and for lunch. Once there, we did a lap on all the floors inside the mall. It was not as busy as it was on Saturday – noted to not go on a weekend. We had worked up our appetite and decided at Sizzlers Restaurant, back on the fifth floor.
It is a buffet of all you can eat salad bar and soups. They have other options on a full menu, especially steaks. We just wanted the salad as we have been craving this for some time. We do not generally like buffets, as a rule, but it seems about the only way for us to get our salad fix. We had a pitcher of fruit infused water (had actual apples, berries and citrus stuffed in the pitcher. It was very refreshing and tasty. We were also given cheese bread- 1/2 slice each. The salad plates are only 8 inch sized. I think we each went back three times for salad, and couple of times for three of five soups. One soup was Chicken Tom Yum (it is a version of the Thai soup we like so much, but it did not have the coconut milk, so not as good for our taste). Overall, we really enjoyed the salad experience. We even had a small chocolate mousse and a coconut yogurt. The price for our feast was 407 THB, or $12.26.
Finished we then went down to the grocery store, bought our stuff, and tried to go to our scooter… but it was raining. Soo, we walked around the mall some more with our groceries. Thankfully nothing was cold and it was a small amount of stuff. When it stopped raining, we boogied to our scooter and zipped back to our place. We got up to our condo and just relaxed as it started raining again. That was timing! We had a light bread and cheese supper; just hung out the rest of the evening as it rained off and on all evening. We knew it would rain as it is rainy season here right now. But it seems to be rainy in the evenings. We’ll find out!
