Chiang Mai, Thailand #10

May 25,
Up and about, and went to the workout room doing some treadmill action. Then back to our place having our Javas and breakfast of an egg sandwich and a yogurt. We watched some YouTube. I went out and checked on pricing for a pedicure… all three places were high priced. So nixed it for now. Morning turned to lunch time.
We decided to go out for — pizza-pizza, at Ma Kin Pizza. It was real close so we walked. We ordered a Salmon Salad of lettuce, cherry tomatoes, dried tomatoes, cucumber, bell pepper, capers, radish, and a big salmon steak on top; and a Greek pizza of olives, sun-dried tomato, onion, spinach, bell pepper, Feta, Mozzarella, and oregano. Both were great 😋and hit our spot. I had a Honey Ginger Lemon soda, and Jeff had a Singha beer. When we finished we ordered a Tiramisu take away for later. Total bill was 1000 THB ($30.68).
Back at our place we chilled out as it started raining most of the evening. Supper was light- rosemary bread, pickled mango, and that excellent Tiramisu. Then we had a video called my mom and got caught up; and Zoom linked with our church service back home.
May 26,
We both awoke feeling good, and got up and about. It was a bit later than normal, but we went to bed late due to catching our church service back home. There’s a 12 hour time difference – as in they are 12 hours behind us… it still takes time to wrap my head around that at times. We had Muesli and yogurt for breakfast, after having our Javas. Then we did a video call with my sister. (We will catch up with Jeff’s sister next week.) Once finished, we went up into building B and did our treadmill “stepping” in that workout room. The room is a bit bigger, more equipment, and better vista views of the huge mountain to the west of Chiang Mai.
For lunch we had Alfredo pasta with the fish sausage, and the last of the rosemary bread. When we finished we went quickly on Baloo to the really close smaller grocery store, picked up our needed necessities, and boogied back to our place. The skies today seemed to be ready to downpour any minute, and again we just made it back as it started raining!! We unloaded and relaxed, listening to the rainfall.
Around 1730, we chanced going back out for supper. We choose a local family run place called Rywin Cafe. We ordered one Green Curry with eggplant, green beans, carrots, onion, Kaffir lime leaves, and chicken breast served with steamed rice; and a small Khao Soi which is noodles in a great flavored, intense coconut curry with chicken and topped with crispy noodles. Khao Soi is a northern Thailand dish, specialty of this area, which the owner made sure we knew! What fun! Both dishes were super and we will be eating here again!😋😋 I had a water and Jeff had a Chang beer. As we were finishing the owner (both he and his wife were friendly, very nice, and helpful) brought us a bowl of Mangosteen! These are the craziest looking fruits… red with green soft spikes all over it. He took time to show us how to peel/open them and eat the white fruit inside. The fruit is the texture of a peeled grape, but very mild to little sweet flavor and has a big almond sized nut in the center. We each ate 2 or 3 of them. Supper was 300 THB, which is $9.20. The fruit was gratis!🤯 We left as there was a slight decrease in the rain, and again made it back before the heavens opened up.
I blogged and Jeff read. The next few days we will be busy with our colonoscopies and such. FUN, FUN… not!
