Living our dream,

 traveling the world!

Carcassonne

   April 15th

Here we are in Carcassonne, France.  We took a 45 minute train from Toulouse to get here.  We waited for the rain to stop and the luggage storage place to open at 10:00.  We then grabbed a baguette breakfast sandwich and ate it in a park with many blooming flowers including roses.  From there we went up to Carcassonne Medieval Citadel. It was built on a Roman site. There are two ring walls and the inner citadel. We meandered in the morning, many steps fighting the wind. The wind was strong even for Kansas! Inside the walls, the main site is the basilica. Wow! The morning sun lit up the stained glass windows. It was quite spectacular. At the end of day we hiked back up here to eat a cassoulet dinner and to see the lit up fortifications at night.
