Living our dream,

 traveling the world!

Cape Town #7

      November 13th,

Yesterday was our seventh month anniversary of living our dream, traveling the world!!! That seems unreal!

We were able to go to a GCI congregation here in Cape Town! There are two, North and South, We chose and went to the North one. This was amazingly restorative and rejuvenating to my soul! I knew I had missed being in a actual physical church service, but the spiritual, emotional and mental lifts were incredible. We were given a great sermon! But just to experience brethren, talk with them, sing with them, was indeed fulfilling. After the service we lingered  and talked more with some of the South African brethren, one member has been affiliated with our church since 1963 (as I recall). We were invited to lunch by the minister, his wife and two young boys. We sat around breaking bread (enjoying a meal) and talking for three hours! What a beautiful day. Reminds me of Hebrews 10: 24-25.

So we were out from 930 am til 430 pm. As soon as we arrived home, we started our routine of getting in touch with family, via Whatsapp; and meeting via ZOOM, our church brethren back home. It was a very successful day!

Today, when we awoke it was very cloudy and windy!  We had breakfast of scrambled egg and ham wraps with peri peri sauce (which is a spicy African sauce made with crushed chilies, lemon, salt & pepper, garlic, onion, bay leaves, vinegar, and oil). It was tasty! I noticed my coffee is getting low, and told Jeff. He proceeded to look up a coffee roaster place near us – because he loves me!  🙂  When we got around, we decided to go on just small drive to the far end of this bay (well, as far as we can go do to the road closure). This is just to the other side of Gordon's Bay. The road beyond on the coast has been closed since September, due to severe storm damage. There was a huge sea swell, 8-9 meters. or 26 to almost 30 feet!!!  Anyway, as we turned around on the detour route, we were going up just enough, the views opened up across the whole False Bay area. It was stunning! There was not any area to pull over for photos, but the view goes back east and some south over this huge bay toward Cape Town and the Cape of Good Hope.

We headed back to the Strand by way of the coffee roasters Jeff had researched for me. I got my coffee – looking forward to trying it!. Arrived back and made our big meal of the day with the last of the already seasoned lamb chops, pan-seared. Also had some sauteed mushrooms, onions, yellow pepper, and garlic that we simmered in some tomato puree with the peri peri sauce (we are really liking this sauce). Paired another Pinotage we had bought. Another successful meal! Time for a siesta! Then I blogged and Jeff researched.

Supper was a premade butternut squash soup. It was pretty tasty, but we embellished it – kicked it up a notch! Sprinkled ground ginger on a part; used some of the veggie-tomato puree, peri peri sauce (left-over from lunch) on a part; and just peri peri sauce. We had a solid chardonnay with it and some toasted baguette. Then a glorious sunset unfolded. (This made up for the howling windy day, a bit.)  Again, we have been blessed!
