Living our dream,

 traveling the world!

Cape Town #12

     November 22nd

I awoke around 0200 and couldn't go back to sleep! I didn't know why. But at 0420 and our front room light came on (it comes on when power is restored and it is on a circuit we can't end). Humph!!! Jeff awoke also. We weren't too happy – another Unscheduled blackout! These will be the undoing of our coming back to South Africa. Just saying!! I didn't get back to sleep til after five and not soundly. Jeff, I think, didn't go back to sleep at all!

Anyway, I finally decided to get out of bed around 0700. We had breakfast of bacon, tomato, and mayo sandwiches on sourdough bread. The day was looking better!  🙂   After this we did our workout with our resistance bands – I don't think I have mentioned these. We attempt to do this routine 3 times/week – being more successful at accomplishing this here and Morocco.

Then just watched the beach. Lo and behold!! The Springboks were on the beach working out! This is the South African National Rugby team – they just won the Rugby World Cup!!! It was fascinating to watch. They did warm-up exercises; then a brief, quick rugby ball tossing – skins against shirts; and lastly, a tug-of-war, followed by a run and cool off in the ocean. This was so COOL to see! I did not think to get a picture of them until after they were finished, but I did get their bus, while they were having a Braai at the the Strand Surf Lifesaving Club across the street.

Lunch for us was left over pasta. Then we watched the kite surfers come. It is very windy today – 30mph – with gusty some conditions. No one seemed to be doing any air catching moves. Last I saw there were only five or six kite surfers – regular surfers left a bit before (too windy??, I don't know since I'm not a surfer.)

Anyway, we did get out and go shopping for our Thanksgiving meal for tomorrow. We could not find any turkey. We have seen wild ones in Madagascar and turkey meat in stores in Morocco, Mauritius, and Reunion! But not here, so we will be having another bird – we found some Ostrich steaks. Non-traditional, but it is a bird. And we know we like it.

Supper tonight was Nando's chicken, carry-out. We had a nice sunset, but the “reflection?” was better (the main picture is from the east, the other from west). Plan to turn in early.
