November 18th

Yesterday morning was about tasks: we did laundry. The apartment complex we are in has a mini laundromat – there are four washing machines and four dryers (with an option to line dry on a second floor terrace. Breakfast was our interesting ostrich/lamb combo sausage with scrambled eggs; a small pineapple; and toast. Lunch was PB&J sandwiches. Then around 330 pm we had plans. We drove to Muizenberg, a town toward the Cape of Good Hope, about 40 minute drive. Here we were to meet with the Cape Town South Church minister and his wife. We met just off the beach, walked and became friends, we have some similarities/commonalities. Marc and Crystal are joyful couple and we went to have a meal together (imagine church people eating food – 'breaking bread' so to speak). We had some of our first sushi!! It was vegetarian and salmon platters. Very tasty. We ended up three hours with them – I feel a theme going on with South African brethren. Anyway, we will be going to their church tomorrow. I am looking forward to it.

Today, we went to the store early on, to get donuts, plus other stuff. We had a little wager going on when Jeff would get his passport… I was closest, so I got donuts! Breakfast was the donuts with the good coffee Jeff found for me, plus we had  mango – had to get something healthy in there! Then watched the beach goers, but did not go out. Jeff did find out the red tide we saw couple of days ago was an algae bloom, and had potential to be harmful if ingested…  so don't drink ocean water, oh yeah, you aren't supposed to drink ocean water…    Anyway, that probably – maybe? – caused the blue/green bioluminescence we witnessed, whatever they were both cool to behold. Lunch was Greek salad (we had a scheduled blackout from noon till two so this made sense, and was also healthy to counter the donuts, right?). Then took a siesta, vegged, and just hung-out in our apartment.  Supper was ribeye steaks with garlic butter, roasted baby potatoes, and corn with one of our newly acquired Malbec wines. Very, very good. Sunset happened. Lastly we caught up on some You-tube videos.

It was a nice balmy day in South Africa
