Living our dream,

 traveling the world!

Brunei #4

     September 5,

Awoke and about by 0700. Today much will be closed in Brunei due to recognition of a prophet’s birthday. So we did not have anything planned and there really is not anything else we want to do here in Brunei anyway. We had our Javas and went to breakfast. I had tuna & cheese with mayo on toast. Jeff had Kuey Teow, which is a charred noodle dish. Both were good. We have enjoyed the breakfasts here at the Jubilee Hotel. When we finished, we went back to our room.

We had seen all the parking along our street and in our hotel’s parking lot. One of the staff said it was all for the morning market behind our hotel. So we went out to check it out. A lot of food for sale and some trinkets. We walked all about and checked out everything. I found a little something for my mother. We had decided to obtain small souvenirs from Brunei because no one we know has been here, and we will be back in the US in less than two months! With that mission accomplished we went back to our hotel.

Back in our room – we went back down to the lobby as there were chairs to sit in. What a concept! Our room just has one stool. I blogged and Jeff read and lined up for our transition day tomorrow. We will be going to Indonesia. But not the part of Indonesia that is on this Island of Borneo. We couldn’t justify Indonesia here, the third country on this island. Even though that would have been neat! Anyway, I went up and checked out the shop on the second level in our hotel. Oh my!! 🤯 It was so overpriced, I was almost afraid to touch anything! When we finished the blog post, we went back to our room.

Around 1430, we went back out to get “lunner.” The streets in the town have been blocked off quite a bit for the parade – of some sort – taking place tomorrow morning starting at 0900. We booked a ride to the airport tomorrow for 0930, hopefully that won’t be a problem. 🤞🏻 We walked to the restaurant at the Radisson Hotel. Both of us wanted a more upscale meal. We both ordered fish dishes. After we had placed our order, we had to wait over an hour for our meals! Jeff mentioned that maybe they forgot about us… but we were the only ones in the restaurant when we ordered. Anyway, the food finally came. Oh Boy… it was worth the wait. I had Teriyaki Grilled Salmon with Sesame seeds served with Mashed Potatoes, and Mixed Seasonal Veggies; Jeff had Fish Gulai- Grilled Seabass in a Coconut & Turmeric Gravy and Steamed Rice. Both of our entrees were super great! I had a Virgin Mango Mojito, because no alcohol; Jeff had an Iced Earl Grey Tea. We finished and paid 51 BND, which was $39.63.

We walked back to our hotel and relaxed. We were able to finish watching Music Man without any problems streaming this time. Since it went so well we watched South Pacific, with the Bali High song… hint, hint for our next destination! We turned in by 2300. Tomorrow will be a long day of hurrying and waiting.
